Day 1: (25 km) Arrival in Fukuoka. Transfer to hotel. Fitting the rental bikes. Short city ride to get our bearings and test the rental bikes. Day 2: (75 km) In the morning we visit Kyushu National Museum in Dazaifu. Day 3: (75 km) Today we climb Mount Aso volcano with one of the world’s largest caldera. We relax in the onsen hot spring. Day 4: (75 km) Spectacular views accompany us around the volcano. We say goodbye to the fumes and head southward. Day 5: (100 km) Through the mountainous inland of Kyushu. We stay in a minshuku in the shadow of Mount Mukozake. Day 6: (100 km) Day 6 brings us to the Kirishima National Park. After another hilly ride we really deserve the onsen hot spring. Day 7: (65 km) Another unforgettable vista on our trip: via the coastal road along Kinko Bay we approach Kagoshima with its enigmatic Sakurajima volcano. Optional bike tour around the volcano (35 km). In the evening, the brand new Kyushu Shinkansen bullet train (start March 12) whooshes us back to Fukuoka. Notes: Price Includes:
