This will be a medium to long trek over several days through one of the most spectacular and diversified mountain areas in Romania. The journey takes you from the beautiful Peles Castle in Sinaia, a cultural and historical monument, to the top of Bucegi Mountains, the cradle of many legends inspired by its natural landscapes and monuments. Following the path down, you will cross an impressive glacial depression, where is very likely to encounter groups of chamois, and a deep forest that will lead you to the city of Rasnov.

A massive medieval fortress built on the top of a nearby hill made this city famous. While exploring it, you will have the opportunity to experience the thrill of archery. The second part of the trip is the trek over the dazzling razor sharp ridge of Piatra Craiului, with a night spent in a mountain shelter right on the ridge, with the opportunity to see the sun setting behind the Fagaras mountains, and rise from the recently visited Bucegi, an interesting formation of rocks, with a cave nearby (Cerdacul Stanciului).

Tour Itinerary:

Day 1: Arrival at Otopeni/Baneasa airport in Bucharest, with departure to Sinaia – visiting the Peles Castle – Busteni accommodation in a local guest house. After the arrival at Otopeni airport we will depart to the city of Sinaia, where we will visit the Peles Castle, the former royal summer residence. Accommodation will be provided at a nearby guest house.

Day 2: Trek over the Bucegi Mountains – accommodation at Omu Chalet. We will leave early, taking the chairlift up to 2000 m altitude, bypassing a sky slope, from where we will start the trek. The path will take us to the plateau from where a rather easy trek will lead us to Piatra Arsa Resort, to the Babele Chalet, where we will take a small break to visit the natural monuments of the Sfinx and Babele, carrying on afterwards to the Caraiman's Cross. From there, we will continue to the Omu Peak, the tallest peak in Bucegi, with its 2507 m, where we will spend the night.

Day 3: A short trek to Rasnov, visiting the Rasnov Fortress – accommodation at a local guest house. Optionally, if the weather is good, you can wake up to see an amazing sunrise. We will then leave the chalet, in order to arrive in Rasnov city, passing through the impressive glacial depression of Malaesti.

In Rasnov we will visit the Rasnov Fortress, built in the 13th century, and one of the best maintained medieval castles in Romania. In the court of the fortress you will have the opportunity to try out a bow, and practice your archery skill on a hay target. In the evening we'll resupply for the next part of the trip, and spend the night at a local guest house.

Day 4: Transfer to Zarnesti city, from where we will go through Zarnesti's Gorges up to the Curmatura Chalet, and a short trip to the nearby Piatra Mica peak (1816 m) - accommodation at Curmatura Chalet. Leaving early, we will transfer by bus to Zarnesti city, and continue our trek through the spectacular Zarnesti Gorges, a place that is seek out by climbers, for its beautiful and difficult routs in the walls.

The path will take us through the forest and we will shortly arrive at the Curmatura Chalet, where we will spend the night. After arriving, we can rest for the rest of the day or make a short trek to the Piatra Mica Peak which offers a panoramic view of both the ridge of Piatra Craiului, and the city of Zarnesti.

Day 5: Climbing on the top of Piatra Craiului ridge, and walking the north part of it to the La Om Peak – accommodation in La Om Shelter. Again, we will leave early and start climbing an impressive portion of the path which includes basic climbing elements, leading us to the ridge, on the Towers peak. From there, the ridge will be really straightforward, a narrow path leading us directly towards it.

The view is spectacular all the way, the Bucegi Mountains being visible all the time on the left side, and the Iezer-Papusa and Fagaras Mountains on the right side, with us on that razor sharp edge, between them. We will spend the night at a mountain shelter, right near the tallest peak of the mountain, La Om 2238 m, after trekking over the entire north part of the ridge.

Day 6: Continuing the south ridge and walking down the path on the west side of the mountain. On the last day on the mountain we will continue out trek on the south part of the ridge, a rather rockier path, with amazing scenery, and a lot of easy climbing and down climbing. We will leave the ridge at the Funduri saddle, continuing on the west side of the mountain, untill we reach an interesting rock formation, Cerdacul Stanciului. Nearby, there is also a cave, and after a bit of exploring, we will follow our path down to Garofita Chalet, and then Satic village, where we will spend the night.

Day 7: Transfer to Bucharest, visiting the Village Museum, and departure for Otopeni airport. We will leave for Bucharest and arrive there to visit the very interesting Village Museum, a collection of the most common traditional houses found along Romania, leaving afterwards to the airport in order to depart to your home country.
