This enchanting trip offers the wonderful variety of historical colonial cities, small colorful folk art villages with centuries-old traditions still alive today, and a privileged visit to the wintering sanctuary of the Monarch Butterflies. Tour Itinerary
Day 1 - Fly to Guadalajara, a charming city with beautiful architecture;
Day 2 - Transfer to Morelia. Includes: (B), (D);
Day 3 - Spending the day in the El Rosario Monarch Butterfly Sanctuary. Overnight in Angangueo. Includes: (B), (D);
Day 4 - Visiting another Monarch sanctuary, the El Chincua, for a different experience. Includes: (B), (D);
Day 5 - This will be one of your favorite days, visiting the folk art villages of Patzcuaro, Tzintzuntzán, Cuanajo, the Ihuatzio archeological site, and Quiroga. Overnight in Patzcuaro. Includes: (B), (L), (D);
Day 6 - Tour Patzcuaro, a well-preserved colonial town with no traffic lights. Except for its paved streets, little has changed since colonial times. This town has deep Indian roots, with the ancient Tarascan language still frequently heard. Return to Morelia this evening. Includes: (B), (L), (D);
Day 7 - Morning walking tour of Morelia, one of Mexico's most intellectual and artistic centers. Return to Guadalajara this afternoon. Includes: (B), (D);
Day 8 - Return home or begin trip extension. Includes: (B).
