Travel to Himalayas’ heart and visit Sikkim, the Buddhist landlocked Indian state (only since 1975), where altitudes vary from 280 (920 ft) to 8585 m (28000 ft)! A bio-diversity paradise, where more than 5000 flowering plants grow. This is an astonishing cultural trip through scenic secondary roads, visiting several Buddhist monasteries and staying in fabulous British colonial style hotels. You will notice the influences from Nepal, Tibet and Bhutan neighbours in the people we meet. In the way we stop at Darjeeling where we visit a farm of the famous tea, not leaving without tasting it!

Trip itinerary

Day 1: Bagadora. Internal flight arrival to Bagadora. Transfer to Kalimpug (3 hours). In the afternoon we will check and prepare the bikes. Dinner and overnight in Kalimpur (hotel 4*) | The Elgin Silver Oaks

Day 2: Rampo | Martam (45 km / 28 mi | +800 m / 2625 ft | 4-5 hr). Morning transfer to Rampo. Our bike route starts at Rampo, ending at Martam. Dinner and overnight in Martam (Eco-lodge)

Day 3: Martam | Gangtok (35.3 km / 22 mi | +993 m / 3257 ft | 4-5 h). Today’s bike route goes from Martam to Gangtok. On the way you will have the chance to visit two Buddhist monasteries. Dinner and lodging in Gangtok hotel (4*) | The Norkhill

Day 4: Gangtok | RabangLa (75km / 46,6 mi | +1980 m / 6200 ft | 6-7 h)
Today we will ride from Gangtok, the biggest city of Sikkim, in direction to RabangLa. Dinner and lodging in Gangtok hotel (4*) | The Norkhill.

Day 5: RabangLa | Pelling (49 km / 30,5 mi | +1455 m / 4774 ft | 6-7 h) Today’s destination is Pelling. On the way you can visit the Pemayangtse monastery! The Monastery is located in the top of the hill, less than a kilometer from Pelling. It is one of the oldest monasteries of the State. It was originally established by Lhatsun Chempo, one of the revered Lamas to have performed the consecration ceremony of the first Chogyal (Monarch) of Sikkim. Day 6: Pelling | Yuksom (58 km / 36 mi | +1890 m / 6200 ft | 6-7 h) Today you’ll go from Pelling to Yuksom, where you will have the chance to visit its famous sacred lake. Yuksom was the first capital of Sikkim, established in 1642 AD by its first king, Phuntsog Namgyal. Dinner and lodging in hotel (4*) | Yuksom Residency

Day 7: Yuksom | Legship | Naya Bazaar | Jorthang (67km/ 41,6 mi | +829 m/ 2720 ft | 6-7 h) Today we will have the longest ride of our tour to arrive to Jorthang. On the way you’ll pass by Legship and Naya Bazaar. In the end of the ride, you’ll have a van transfer to Darjeeling (2 h). Dinner and overnight in Darjeeling hotel (4*) | The Elgin

Day 8: Darjeeling

Today is the Darjeeling sightseeing day. You can visit the local Buddhist temple, have the pleasure to ride the historical Darjeeling train, visit the local museum or visit a tea plantation and learn about its art. Dinner and overnight in Darjeeling hotel (4*) | The Elgin

Day 9: Bagdora - Delhi. Morning transfer to Bagdora. Internal Flight to Delhi. Free day to visit Delhi. Dinner and overnight in Delhi hotel (4*)

Day 10: Delhi. Transfer to international airport. Departure flight.
