Japan a great place to relax, and a fine place to vacation.
Japan has an image of being expensive, but outside the cities, this is not true. Japan is on par with most European or American towns, and cheaper than many places. On this tour, most travel is by foot, either on trails or on little-used country roads. All lodging is in traditional ryokan or special Japanese houses. Tour Itinerary: Day 1: Start in Usa town, Oita province. This town is on the main JR rail line between Kokura and Oita stations. The first hike is Tsu-wa-dou mountain, 5-6 hours hike. We may visit the national Shinto shrine at Usa also. We stay near here this night. Day 2: We travel the Nokogiri ridge trail, 4 to 5 hours hike, to Kumano Mugaibutsu stone images. The logde has hot springs, and great food. Day 3: Hike the Naka-yama-senkyo trail, and walk on to Kunimi town, total of 7 to 8 hours walking. We stay at a very spacious private home, with hot springs. Day 4: Hike past Sen-tou-ji temple ruins and through the forest to Iwa-tou-ji temple, and then Monjusen-Ji Temple. We stay at the temple. This is about 6 hours walking. The temple does not have hot springs, but has ofuro baths and special food, meditation etc. Day 5: Hike to Futago-temple, 5 to 8 hours, depending on choice of route. Afterward, return to Usa town or optional night at Ryokan hotel. Tours can be extended. Notes: Price Includes:
