The Rockstone Fish Festival is an annual event which sees participation from Guyana‘s top sport fishing men. This event is usually scheduled around the end of October or the beginning of November. However, almost all through the year, except for extreme raining seasons, fishing is possible. Some of the more known fish species found are the Peacock Bass or Lukunani, Hymara, Arawana, Pirana and the endangered Arapaima, world’s largest fresh water fish (trapping not allowed).
The trip begins at 07:00, traveling overland via four wheel drive vehicles along the Soesdyke/Linden Highway onto the Lethem/Brazil trail through dense rainforest, arriving at Rockstone approximately two hours after departure. After a day of excitement, relaxation and of course fishing, we return to Georgetown.
