This trip is designed for the average to above average angler, providing the opportunity to catch fish species such as Hymara, Peacock Bass, Arawana and the Black or Giant Piranha. Essequibo and the Rupununi Rivers are also habitat for the endangered Arapaima (not for trapping). After a six-hour journey overland, through Guyana’s rainforest on the Lethem/ Brazil Trail, we arrive at Kurupukari on the Essequibo River, where we set up our Base Camps.
From there, we embark by boat up the Essequibo River to some of the best fishing grounds available, returning at the end of each day to Base Camp. Other fishing trips are offered to more remote areas, such as the Rupununi and Rewa Rivers and could be customized for travel to and from via air.
