It features the nesting sites of four species of marine turtles, Giant Leatherback, Olive Ridley, Hawksbill and the Green Turtle and thousands of Scarlet Ibis. The trip begins at 07:00 traveling overland across the Demerara Harbour Bridge, along the coast of the Atlantic Ocean onto Parika. We journey across the Essequibo River by boat to the County of Essequibo, continuing by land along the Essequibo Coastline onto Charity. Another boat ride along the Coco Cola waters of the Pomeroon River, we arrive at Adels Resort, where we overnight. Continuing along the Pomeroon River, we arrive at the Amerindian Village of Santa Rosa.
A three hour boat ride from Santa Rosa, takes us through the Morouca lowlands, where the mangrove bushes closes in on the river, and onto the Barima/Waini Rivers. Journeying out to the Atlantic Ocean, we arrive at Almond Beach (part of the 90 miles stretch of beach referred to as Shell Beach) for a two-night stay. Boating, fishing, observing the Scarlet Ibis and joining the Wardens to locate nesting sites of the marine turtles are some of the more memorable activities. After your stay at Almond Beach, we journey back to Georgetown. Tour could be customized to include visits to Northwest District, Jim Jones Site, before returning via air from Mabaruma.
