Day 1 - Arrive in Oaxaca City, Hostal Casantica Hotel. Includes: (D);
Day 2 - A visit to the house-museum of Mexico's most beloved president, Don Benito Juarez. Next, a guided tour to the Regional Museum of Anthropology and History at the Santo Domingo 16th century convent. Includes: (B), (D);
Day 3 - Private Folk Art Village Tours to Coyotepec, Jalietza and Tilcajete. A demonstration of the famous glossy black pottery by Dona Rosa's grandson. Visit a women's coop to see them weaving the fine woolen and cotton goods on back-strap looms. Purchase the hand-painted elaborate wooden "nightmare" animals from the artists themselves. Day 4 - Froemmer's guide to Mexico, 2002, says "El Naranjo, where the emphasis is on Oaxacan specialities, is my favorite restaurant. Includes: (B), (D);
Day 5 - Private tour to the archeological site of Mitla. Photograph the largest tree in Mexico en route today. Two housand year old, The Tule tree's trunk diameter is 45 feet. A final stop in the village of Teotitlan to visit a family that will demonstrate the spinning, dying and weaving of their magnificent, richly colored hand-made wool rugs. Includes: (B), (D);
Day 6 - Private tour to Monte Alban, Arrazola and Zaachila. This is the day for which you have been waiting -a tour to the Zapotec capital of Monte Alban. It was the Zapotec epicenter of culture and worship. In the village of Arrazola we will see a differen style of alberijes. Today is market day at Zaachila. A special event this evening is dinner at the Hotel Camino Real and a Guelaguetza show (regional dances). Includes: (B), (D);
Day 7 - For a different pace, take a guided botanical garden tour at the Santo Domingo convent. Free time this afternoon to allow you to visit some of the many museums, craft centers, markets. Go shopping and stroll around the zocolo. Includes: (B), (D);
