Tour Itinerary:

Day 1: Make your way to Turku. On arrival, transfer to your hotel for two nights. Rest of day free.

Day 2: Full day to explore by bike. Visit the Cathedral and Castle, cycle along the riverside pathways and head over to the picturesque Ruissalo area.

Day 3: Morning ferry ride from Turku to Mariehamn on the Åland Islands. Transfer to your 3 star hotel for one night. Optional afternoon/early evening kayaking trip to Kobba Klintar.

Day 4: Pick up your bikes this morning and cycle via Godby to the battle-scared area of Sund. Here you will find the 14 century Kasdtelholms Slott, a breathtaking castle located in a picturesque setting and the ruined Russian fortress Bomarsund. You will also see traditional windmills in the region. Continue into the viking area of Saltvik and onto the village of Kvarnbo where you will spend the next two nights.

Day 5: South east of Kvarnbo lies the Iron Age fortress of Borgboda. Having been built in the mid-to-late 1st millennium only some stone outcroppings remain as well as Ida's Stuga, the home of folk singer Ida Jansson in the 20th century. Kvarnbo also has the oldest church in Finland, the red-granite Sankta Maria Kyrka which dates from the 12th century. If you want to explore further afield, head northwards to Geta, the apple basket of Aland where it is possible to visit Tjudö Vineyard and Stallhagen brewery.

Day 6: Head westwards today into Hammarland where you will stay for one night. With over 40 burial mounds discovered in the region, Hammarland is one of Aland's oldest inhabited areas.

Day 7: Cycle back to Mariehamn and drop your bikes off in time for the overnight ferry to Helsinki.

Day 8: Arrive Helsinki this morning where your tour ends, unless you are extending your holiday with a few nights in Finland's capital city.
