Brief Itinerary: Day 1: 09:00 - Arrival to meeting destination – Zeleni Kut, Zvečaj village 09:30 - Preparing for the trip,instructions from the trip leader 10:00 - Transfer to the starting point of the trip 11:00 – Embarking our kayaks and starting the trip 13:00 - Picnic break at the big waterfall 13:30 - Continuing down the river Mrežnica, swimming 17:00 - Finishing up the trip at the campsite 17:30 - Putting up the campsite and preparing for dinner 19:00 - Dinner and overnight Day 2: 08:00 - Breakfast and packing up the campsite 09:30 - Preparing for the trip, instructions from the trip leader 10:00 - Starting the trip 13:00 - Picnic break at the big waterfall 13:30 - Continuing down the river Mrežnica, swimming 15:30 - Finishing up the trip 16:00 - Lunch at the local restaurant Zeleni Kut 17:00 - Departure Tour Itinerary: Day 1 - Arrival to destination, Zvečaj village Our trip begins in Zvečaj village at the restaurant “Zeleni Kut” where we’ll gather up and meet over a cup of coffee/tea. After a short introduction to our trip for the next two days, we pack all needed things and get transferred to the start point of the trip. To reach the upper canyon of Mrežnica between Primišlje and Tržić, the most beautiful part of the river right in the wilderness, you need a little more effort. The adventure takes us through a gorge so narrow and deep that the sun enters for only a few hours each day, around noon, creating spectacular light effects. We will bypass cliffs of carved white rocks, lush vegetation and cascading waterfalls, strong freshwater springs and pools of water which are great for swimming in summer. The second highest waterfall on the Mrežnica (7m) is a magical place ideal for swimming and jumping where we’ll make a picnic break. Continuing our river expedition downstream to the confluence of Tounčica and Mrežnica River where our campsite is located. Our next steps are changing into dry clothes, putting up the tents and preparing for dinner. Meals: D (picnic on your own); Van drive to start: 1 hour; kayaking: 15 km; 4-5hours Day 2 – Continuing our expedition downstream This morning after breakfast we embark on a kayaking expedition down the emerald Mrežnica River. The journey meanders through a spectacular landscape of lush forests and open meadows. The day will be filled with swimming, jumping off the waterfalls and enjoying beautiful nature. Clear emerald water, unspoiled woods and magical landscapes - that is Mrežnica, one of Croatia's finest and clearest rivers, ideal for kayaking, canoeing and rafting. This typical ‘karst’ river with numerous travertine waterfalls interspersed with calm water can reach 27 degrees Celsius in the summer! Due to its biological diversity and variety of habitats, the Mrežnica area will soon be categorized as a Croatian Nature Park. After this long but beautiful and challenging day on the river we finish up at the “Zeleni Kut” restaurant where we have time to change into dry clothes and relax while having lunch.
