Our Specialist Predator Photographic Expeditions offer you a 10-day nature and predator photographic safari into the heart of South Africa’s very best private game reserves while staying in world class lodges. South Africa is renowned as one of the best places to view and photograph Africa’s super predators, and the three reserves we visit are all famous for their particular predators and provide close-up views and photographic opportunities of these special felines.
The tour starts at Madikwe Game Reserve, home to one of the largest populations of the critically endangered African Wild Dog. Photographic opportunities are endless as numerous predator species exist in great numbers all over the reserve. These include Lion, Brown and Spotted Hyena, African Wild Cat, Caracal and Leopard. Black Rhino also occur in good numbers, while various antelope species make Madikwe a really great start to this exciting expedition.
Our next destination is the legendary Timbavati, situated in the Limpopo province bordering the world famous Kruger National Park, where the only “wild” white Lion gene occurs. The reserve provides fantastic photographic subjects, 40 species of mammal (including the “Big Five”: Lion, Leopard, African Elephant, African Buffalo and White Rhino) and 360 species of birds, making the Timbavati a photographer’s paradise!
Our final destination is the Sabi Sand Game Reserve, arguably the finest private reserve in Africa. This is home to a vast wildlife population, including the “Big Five” and a number of endangered species. Our photographic target here is undoubtedly the reserves’ magnificent Leopards. Many award winning Leopard images have been taken in the Sabi Sands, and your chances are as good as any previous winner to capture that unique shot of the “perfect” predator.
Professional safari guides and award winning wildlife photographers, Marius Coetzee or Greg du Toit, will personally lead you on this expedition. Marius was based in the Madikwe and Sabi Sand Reserves for almost 8 years and knows these areas intimately, while Greg has photographed here extensively over the past three years. Both guides are therefore able to offer you the best possible photographic localities and opportunities.
