A tiny, landlocked republic of Central Africa in the Equatorial Africa, Rwanda lies on the eastern rim of the Albertine Rift and the watershed between Africa’s two largest river systems: the Nile and the Congo. Often called the “Land of a thousand hills”, Rwanda is predominately grassy uplands and hills, with altitudes above sea level varying from a low of 3,960 feet to Mount Karisimbi, the highest of a range of extinct volcanoes in the Northwest, which reaches 14,507 feet. Lake Kivu forms part of the border with D.R.C and one of the beautiful Lakes in Africa. The Climate is temperate and mild with an average daytime temperature of 25 degrees Celsius. Main Rainy season is from Mid – February to Mid – May and the shorter ones is from mid-October to mid-December. Rwanda has a number of unique delights to offer travelers. Parc National des Volcans in the Virunga volcanoes is the home to the Mountain Gorillas to which Dian Fossey dedicated her life. Nyungwe National park, one of the largest montane forests in Central Africa, is renowned for it’s large troops of monkeys and rich variety of orchids. Akagera park is a savannah park with elephants, hippo and crocodile. Lake Kivu is a beautiful inland sea enclosed by steep terraced hillsides. There are large varieties of birds. Rwanda has a rich culture with its second city, Butare having one of the finest cultural museums in Africa. Tour Itinerary: Day 1: Transfer to Nyungwe. Depart from Kigali en route visit some historical sites on the main road like Kamegeri rock etc. Check in the hotel and refresh before you go for a late afternoon drive at the tea plantations to see some primates. Day 2: Nyungwe National Park. Early breakfast (4:45 am); then drive to the chimp trekking point. After trekking, drive to Rusizi - check in and have lunch at the hotel. Some time to relax after trekking chimps. Day 3: Visiting Kibuye. Napoleon hut and Amahoro Peace Islands. Enjoy fried Kivu fish and potatoes on the island plus some cold drinks of your choice. Swimming is optional to any interested member or guest. Day 4: Ruhengeri. Transfer to Ruhengeri en-route visit the twin lakes. Picnic Lunch by the lakes. proceed to Ruhegeri. Day 5: Volcanoes National Park. Early breakfast - start gorilla trekking procedures at 6:30 am at the park headquarters. After gorilla trekking, refresh and drive to Kinigi cultural village to enjoy the Batwa dance. Day 6: Banana and Sorghum beer production. Banana products in Rwanda and their use i.e.as food, local beer/drinks and very important in the cultural practices most. Transfer to Gisenyi check in the hotel. Drive around Gisenyi town as we head to Rubona fishing village to experience the lifestyle of fishermen and also visiting the hot springs. Swimming in the lake is optional. Day 7: Farewell - Kigali. Transfer to Kigali en route do shopping. Check Caplaki market for more souvenirs. Dinner at Republican restaurant. Day 8: Departure Rwanda. Transfer to the airport and depart Rwanda. Notes:
