Ancient temples, Renaissance palaces, Baroque monuments, more than 500 churches, immense squares, gardens, imposing fountains, one river, one island and 4 million inhabitants. This is Rome - the Eternal City. This beautiful tour starts with a stop to the Ancient Rome, better known as the Roman Forum which was considered the cultural, political and religious centre of the 7th century B.C. This World Heritage Site includes the most famous and representative monument of Rome, the Colosseum, where bloody combats between gladiators and wild beasts were held!
The Circus Maximus known for having housed lively chariot races, the statue of the Mouth of Truth where people still line up to put their hands into it in order to find out if there’s a liar among them. How? If someone tells a lie, the Mouth of Truth will chop off their hand! And last but not least, we will conclude the chapter of Ancient Rome with a visit to the Pantheon, the best preserved building of its age in the world.
Then, we will leave the magic of Ancient Rome behind to visit the main squares adorned with enchanting Baroque and Renaissance statues. The Spanish Steps and its popoular shopping streets, Trevi Fountain (remember to save some coins to drop into the fountain and make your wish), Navona Square where painters, musicians, buskers and colorful stalls recreate an incredible sensation of how life looked like 500 years ago!
And don’t forget a stop to Vatican City, you will be able to admire the Sistine Chapel frescoes by Michelangelo, Raphael’s room and treasury tombs of former popes. The Vatican city also includes the incredible Saint Peter’s Basilica (it took more than 150 years and the most important and skilled artists to build it, how can you miss this!) the biggest in the world. Inside, the Pietà by Michelangelo and the Pulpit by Bernini are incredibly well preserved.
During the tour our drivers will be happy to stop at some local restaurants (no tourist traps) or something on the way if you want to be quick. They will do their best to make your visit as relaxing and delightful as possible, not a hurried and stressful one! Is there a special place you want to go visit? Did you hear about a spot that isn’t on “the tourist trail”? Please, tell us!
