Our English-speaking driver would drive you to the smallest country in the world placed in the very heart of Rome. The Vatican is composed of the Museums, the Sistine Chapel by Michelangelo and Saint Peter’s Basilica, (the biggest in the world) built with 2,522 cartloads of stones from the badly damaged Roman Colosseum. It took more than 150 years and the most important and skilled artists to build it, how can you miss it! Inside, the Pietà by Michelangelo and the Pulpit by Bernini are incredibly well preserved. There are over 100 tombs located inside, including the tomb of John Paul II. You can also enjoy the incredible Saint Peter’s Square and its huge colonnade (284 columns!) that seems to embrace believers in the motherly arms of the Church. Is there a special place you want to go visit? Did you hear about a spot that isn’t on “the tourist trail”? Please, tell us!
Note: Please dress respectfully for visiting religious monuments; local custom requires covering knees and shoulders. We suggest comfortable walking shoes.
