For Those Seeking Adventure But Prefer the Comforts of Hotel Accommodation. Our 2 Day Uluru and Kata Tjuta 4WD Eco Experience is perfect for people that like small groups (max. 14), keeping away from the crowds, walking, genuine indigenous experiences and soaking up the atmosphere of Central Australia but with all the comforts of home. Rather than just seeing Uluru (Ayers Rock) and Kata Tjuta (the Olgas), we’ll give you the opportunity to really experience them before retiring to your hotel, a nice shower and restaurant meals.
Our Guides Among the Best: One of the most important aspects of M16112 is the calibre of our guides. They are among the best in Central Australia through their enthusiasm and ability to bring people together to have the best time. This is backed up with extensive local knowledge of geology, the Aboriginal (Anangu) people, plus local and European history. Please note that you will have one M16112 guide for the duration of your safari. Enhance Your Safari with Optional Experiences.
Sounds of Silence Dinner: You can enhance your M16112 Safari with the very popular Sounds of Silence Dinner+ which is an open air dinner set in the stunning Uluru – Kata Tjuta National Park. Learn from the Traditional Aboriginal Land Owners: While at Uluru you have the opportunity partake the Aboriginal guided Mala Walk+ where you will learn a great deal from Anangu about their mythological stories tied to Uluru and the intimate relationship they have with it. Please note the Mala Walk is in place of doing the base walk or climbing Uluru (climbing is discouraged by Anangu) for guests wanting a direct indigenous experience.
Day 1: (Lunch** & Dinner). If departing from Alice Springs, we commence pick-ups at your accommodation from 6.00am before journeying towards the Uluru-Kata Tjuta National Park. The drive from Alice is punctuated with a number of ancient mountain ranges, salt pans and river beds including the Finke River, the oldest water coarse on the planet. We will include refreshment stops at Camels Australia (Stuarts Well), Mt Ebenezer and the Imanpa Art Gallery, Mount Connor (a mesa tableland), Lake Amadeus (a giant salt pan) and finally Curtin Springs Cattle Station before entering Ayers Rock Resort at approximately midday.
Your guide will transfer you directly to the Desert Gardens Hotel where you will be served a delicious 2 course lunch at Gecko’s Café before meeting your fellow travellers flying directly into Uluru for your afternoon touring of the Uluru Kata-Tjuta National Park. For those flying directly into Ayers Rock Airport, you will be met by your guide before commencing your Eco Cultural experience starting with a visit to the spiritually powerful Kata Tjuta where we partake in the Walpa Gorge walk, approximately one hour duration and suitable for most fitness levels.
Your M16112 guide will impart their extensive knowledge of the geology and unique botanical adaptations present on the walk as well as the cultural significance of Kata Tjuta to the local Anangu people. The striking colour and sheer enormity of these ancient dome like structures is absolutely awe inspiring and a highly treasured location to the local people. We then head back to the hotel for check in and to allow time for those participating in the Sounds of Silence Dinner* the opportunity to prepare for their evening under the magnificent southern stars.
This includes transport to an exclusive sunset location, a la carte 3 course dinner, beverages, didgeridoo performance, star talk and return transfers to your hotel by approximately 10:30 pm. Those not attending Sounds of Silence will join your guide to travel to a remote location to observe the infamous changing colours of Uluru and Kata Tjuta at sunset. This amazing phenomenon will be accompanied with canapés and wine or cool refreshments. At the conclusion of sunset we will return to the hotel for a beautiful 3 course dinner and time to chat about the days events and discuss what’s in store for the next day.
Day 2: (Breakfast and Lunch**). Today it is up before the birds, departing the Resort under darkness as we travel to a location to witness the birth of a new day, observing the sun’s rays enveloping the mighty monolith of Uluru along with Kata Tjuta in the distance, a site often just as inspiring as Uluru. Guests electing to climb Uluru will be supplied with a breakfast box and taken directly to the base of Uluru to commence their 2 – 2.5 hour climb (Anangu discourage people from climbing Uluru). After sunrise, those not climbing will return to the hotel for breakfast, check out and luggage store.
For those wanting to experience Uluru with a local Aboriginal guide, you may partake in Anangu Waai’s Aboriginal guided Mala Walk* learning of the Mala (Hare Wallaby) people who lived at Uluru, how they lived and prepared for ceremonies, visit their caves and the sacred Kantju Gorge, a quiet water hole at the base of a dramatic rock face. This guided walk is approximately 3 hours and you will be returned to your hotel before midday. For those choosing to visit Uluru with your M16112 Desert Safaris guide, we will rendezvous with guests that climbed Uluru to experience the wonderful walks around the base, learning of the creation myths and fascinating geology of Uluru. There is time to visit the Cultural Centre and its Interpretative Display and Galleries before returning to the Hotel to collect your luggage.
For those departing from Ayers Rock Airport, your guide will deliver you by 12:30 pm. For those returning to Alice Springs with us, we will commence our journey from the airport and stop at Curtin Springs Station for a typical Aussie BBQ lunch before carrying on to Alice Springs where we will return you to your hotel at approximately 5.30pm after two days of stunning beauty and adventure.
