Schedule: Tour begins on the first and third Saturdays of each month all year around. Arrive to Managua. Depart from Managua 8 days later on Saturday.
Tour Itinerary: Day 1, Saturday: Arrival to Managua, Nicaragua. Meet at Managua International Airport. Transfer to Granada for overnight. Day 2, Sunday: Masaya Volcano and Masaya City. Tour to the Masaya Volcano National Park and Masaya City Tour, including its Historic District with the Convent of San Francisco and the Tres Mundos House. Granada is a beautiful Spanish Colonial City, founded in 1524 by Francisco Hernández de Córdoba. Is the oldest Central American city still located in the same location it was founded. Original buildings, churches and a Cathedral embellishes the city. Most of the houses are still following the architectural style the Spanish conquistadores brought to the Americas: a central court yard with all the rooms around it, adobe walls and tile roofs. Overnight in Granada. Includes: (B, L). Day 3, Monday: Mombacho Volcano and Lake Tour. Tour to Mombacho Volcano Reserve and Lake Nicaragua Tour. Declared as a Nature Reserve in 1983, the Mombacho Volcano Reserve reached 4,000 feet above sea level including 2 life zones: Cloud Forest and Low Forest. An eruption of this volcano created the islands in Lake Nicaragua. Granada is in the shore of Lake Nicaragua, where 365 small islands of volcanic origin where formed by an eruption of the Mombacho Volcanoe some 1.5 million years ago. Most of them have less than 4 acres of extension. The largest one, called La Guanábana has approximately 200 acres of size. Overnight in Granada. Includes: (B, L). Day 4, Tuesday: Ometepe. Transfer to San Jorge to take the ferry to Ometepe Island. Tour in the island, including the Numismatic Museum and petroglyphs in Finca Magdalena. Overnight at Ometepe Island in a lake shore hotel. Includes: (B, L). Day 5, Wednesday: Ometepe. A day at Ometepe Island. Tour in the island, scenery with the lake and its volcanoes, and to San Ramon Waterfalls. Overnight at Ometepe Island. Includes: (B, L). Day 6, Thursday: San Juan del Sur. Transfer to San Juan del Sur for a day at the Pacific Ocean beaches. In southwestern Nicaragua’s Pacific coasts, San Juan del Sur Bay with the shape of a horseshoe, has some of the best beaches of Central America and it is a growing tourist attraction. Spanish Captain Andres Niño visited it first in 1522 and the original name was “San Juan of the Southern Sea”. Average temperature all year round is in the 90ºs. Overnight in a beach resort. Includes: (B, L). Day 7, Friday: Leon. Transfer to Leon. In the city of Leon we can find architectural styles from the Spanish Colonial to the Baroque and the Neo Classic. There are 16 churches, some with convents and monasteries, 11 of which are from the Spanish Colonial days. Is was also de home of Ruben Dario, Nicaragua’s prime writer and considered one of the best writers in Spanish Language during the first half of the XX Century. His home is a museum.
