This seven day trip will provide you with the opportunity to see all of Guatemala’s most famous points of interest. Unique and diverse cultures offer you new and interesting foods, handicrafts, architecture from the 15th century as well as cultural and religious ceremonies all of which will enhance your authentic immersion experience. Not only does Guatemala offer a vibrant culture, but also amazing wonders of the natural world such as active volcanoes, stunning lakes, and lush jungles that are home to unique wildlife including jaguars and howler monkeys. This trip provides you with an Insider’s view of the real Guatemala and its prosperous Mayan Culture and people.
Brief Itinerary: Day 1: Airport Pick Up in Guatemala City; Drive to Antigua. Day 2: Pacaya Volcano Hike. Day 3: Drive towards Lake Atitlan; boat tour to Santiago and San Pedro. Day 4: Drive towards Chichicastenango Market. Day 5: Walking tour in Antigua. Day 6: Flight in to The National Park of Tikal. Day 7: End in Guatemala City to take you to the airport. Tour Itinerary: Day 1: Guatemala City airport – Antigua. We will meet you at the airport and from there drive 45 minutes to the picturesque colonial town of Antigua which is full of diverse and vibrant histories and cultures. Upon arrival we will assist you in checking in to your hotel. Depending upon your arrival time we can head to a local restaurant to experience authentic Guatemalan cuisine. Day 2: Pacaya Volcano. After eating breakfast in your hotel or place of choice we will meet at 9:00 AM in the morning and head to the local market. Here you will find a myriad of food options both traditional and more modern to serve as snack items for the afternoon trip. In addition we will provide you with apples and brown sugar to caramelize over the lava as well as all the fixings for a classic American smore. After preparing for the trip you will have a few hours of free time to pack, eat lunch and prepare for the hike. We will meet again at 2:00 PM and drive to Pacaya where we will begin our hike at 4:00 PM. By 6:00 PM we will be roasting apples and marshmallows as we gaze at a breathtaking sunset. Our ETA to have you back in your hotel in Antigua is approximately 8:30 PM. Day 3: Lake Atitlan. Today will be an early riser as everyone needs to be well-fed and ready to go at 8:00 AM. Upon picking you up we will head to Panajachel, a two hour drive from Antigua. We will check in to our hotel and have a moment to relax before we head to the pier. From the pier we will take a peaceful boat ride to the village of San Pedro, a mellow town full of cultural diversity. After our time in San Pedro we will head by boat to Santiago where we will have lunch in a traditional restaurant. Then we will head to the Maximon Ceremony where the local people celebrate, worship and pray to the famous Saint Maximon. Afterwards we will take our boat back to Panajachel to have dinner on Santander Avenue. Day 4: Chichicastenango Market. Again we will need to be ready to leave Panajachel at 8:00 AM as we are heading to Chichicastenango Market an hour and forty-five minute drive from Panajachel. Chichicastenango is the largest market in Guatemala and is famous for its jade jewelry, handmade wooden crafts, and traditional textiles. This market is open only Thursdays’ and Sunday’s but it is worth the drive to find the most unique and best valued items. After trying the regional cuisine at lunch we will head to your hotel Antigua. Our ETA in Antigua is 6:00 PM giving you time to check in to your hotel and relax before dinner at 8:00 PM in one of Antigua’s many fine international restaurants. Day 5: Walking Tour of Antigua. In the morning you can have breakfast either in your hotel or one of Antigua’s many cafes. We will meet you in your hotel at 9:00 AM to begin our walking tour of Antigua. On our itinerary today will be a visit to San Francisco El Grande, The Museum of Arms, La Merced Church, and the famous Arch Street. Lunch will take place at a traditional restaurant that offers all of the unique and appetizing flavors of Guatemalan cuisine. After lunch we will head to Cerro la Cruz atop a hill, providing us with a vista of the entire city and its surrounding volcanoes Fuego, Agua, Acatenango. The rest of afternoon and evening will be free time for you to further explore Antigua independently. Day 6: Tikal. Pick up in the morning will be at 4:00 AM and we will be going to the Guatemala City Airport where you can grab a quick breakfast. From there we will take a half hour flight to the Flores Airport. Upon our arrival in Flores we will drive 45 minutes to the National Park of Tikal. At 9:00 AM our tour will begin with our private guide who will aid in our discovery of the major points of interest such as the Lost World, Complex Q, Temples 1, 2, 4, 5, and 6, The Great Plaza and the Window Palace. You will be provided with a lunch box as well as two hours of free time to explore the park on your own. After this amazing cultural and natural world experience we will be flying back to Guatemala City and driving to Antigua. Our ETA for arriving at your hotel is approximately 9:30 PM. Day 7: Departure. Three hours before you flight we will be arriving at the hotel to assist in checking you out and then driving you the airport for your departure. Notes: Price Includes:
