Zrmanja and Krupa are among the most beautiful rivers in Europe, with their perfectly clear warm water, spectacular canyon and magnificent waterfalls that will take your breath away. They are easy and safe enough for beginner canoeists but their scenery makes them very exciting and memorable. You will see many fish and birds and explore typical karst phenomenon of living travertine waterfalls. The trip begins in Kaštel Žegarski, only one hour drive from Zadar. You will quickly learn how to handle sit-on-top kayaks as you slowly enter the canyon. After first hour of paddling down the rapids you will – if time and weather permit – visit beautiful Krupa waterfalls and swim under them. More waterfalls and rapids wait for you as you continue down Zrmanja to Muskovci where the trip ends. At the end of the trip you can optionally enjoy refreshments at a nearby restaurant or take a picnic on your own.
We use two-person sit-on-top kayaks with optional child seat which are easy and safe to navigate. You will get a life jacket, a paddle and a helmet, plus long neoprene suits and rain jackets in case of cold weather. Waterproof containers are available for personal items (camera, drinks, etc.). Don’t forget to bring shorts or bathing suit, T-shirt, spare socks and sandals (or sport shoes), towel, sun cream and a bottle of water. In case of colder weather please take a long-sleeved shirt.
Please note that rafting boats are used in case of high water levels.In the unlikely case of extreme weather conditions Raftrek Adventure Travel will re-schedule the activity for a day or two prior or after the date booked, if possible.
No previous kayaking experience is needed. Even children from 8 years old accompanied by parents can participate.
