Part 1, Japan.
Day 1: Home - Tokyo. Depart for Tokyo.
Day 2: Tokyo. Arrive in Tokyo. Upon arrival, you will be personally greeted and escorted to your hotel. Balance of the day is at leisure.
Day 3: Tokyo. You will be picked up at 7:55 am and start a full day tour of Tokyo that will include Tokyo Tower Observatory, tea ceremony at Happoen Garden, barbecue lunch at Chinzanso Restaurant, Imperial Palace Plaza, Sumida River cruise, Asakusa Kannon Temple and Nakamise Shopping Arcade and drive through Ginza Shopping District.
Day 4: Tokyo - Mt. Fuji - Hakone. Board your motor coach at 8:45 am. Drive to Mt. Fuji to stop first at Mt. Fuji Visitor Center and then on to Mt. Fuji 5th Station. Enjoy Japanesestyle lunch (included). In the afternoon, drive to Togendai and takeHakone Ropeway. Visit Owakudani Valley. Take a cruise on the beautiful Lake Ashi on a Pirate Boat. Drive to Okawara Station where you will take an express train back to Tokyo. Check in to hotel for overnight in Hakone. Includes: (L).
Day 5: Hakone - Takayama. Drive to Odawara Railway Station and board your train to Nagoya where you will take another train to Takayama. Upon arrival in Takayama, you will have a walking tour of the highlights including Yatai Kaikan Hall, Kusakabe Folk Museum, and Kami Sannomachi Street. Check in to your hotel in Takayama for overnight.
Day 6: Takayama - Kanazawa. Takayama is nicknamed “Little Kyoto” for its well preserved historical structures. Tour starts at 8:30 am. Visit Morning Market of Takayama and Former Toyama Family Residence. And on to Shiragawa-go, a UNESCO World Heritage site and Gassho-Zukuri. Have an experience of making Japanaese paper in Gokayama. Drive to Kanazawa. And check in to your hotel for overnight.
Day 7: Kanazawa - Kyoto. Leave hotel by 8:30 am and your first visit is the famous Kenrokuen Garden, one of the three most beautiful gardens in Japan. Next stop is Kutaniyaki Pottery Kiln. Visit Old Samurai residenc (Nomura Family residence), Higashi-chaya Street. And arrive at Kanazawa Station to take a train ride to Kyoto at 4:30 pm. Upon arrival at 5:30 pm, you will be dropped off at your hotel.
Day 8: Kyoto - Nara - Kyoto. The full day tour will include Nijo Castle, Kinkakuji Temple (Golden Pavilion), Kyoto Imperial Palace, Kyoto Handicraft Center, Todaiji Temple, Nara Park (Deer Park), Kasuga Taisha Shrine, and Nara Nagomikan.
Day 9: Kyoto - Osaka. You will be picked up and transferred to Osaka Kansai Airport for departure.
Part 2, China.
Day 10: Osaka - Beijing. Fly to Beijing in the morning. Upon arrival, you will be greeted and escorted to your hotel. Balance of the day is at leisure.
Day 11: Beijing. Your guide will meet you at your hotel and provide a full day tour including Tiananmen Square, Forbidden City, Summer Palace, and Liulichang which has been well known since 17th century Qing Dynasty as the street selling old books, paintings, calligraphy and other arts. Whether you buy or not, it will be an interesting place to visit. In the evening, enjoy Peking Opera in Huguang Guild Hall where the best Peking Opera is performed. You will have dinner in the neighboring Chuwan Hall with excellent cuisine. Includes: (B), (L), (D).
Day 12: Beijing. Today your guide will take you to the Great Wall, Ming Tomb, and Sacred Way. Last stop is at the Beijing’s famous Acrobatic Show. Includes: (B), (L), (D).
Day 13: Beijing. Experience a ride on a tricycle in Hutong (the Old Beijing) and visit a typical traditional Chinese home where you can learn how to make dumplings, enjoy lunch in the home. Visit Drum Tower (Drums were used for telling time in the morning and at dusk and also for music as early as 3rd century BC. Then visit Yonghegong Lamasary, and Shichahai scenic and leisure area with three lakes surrounded by historic places, old style homes and courtyards, and many fine restaurants. This evening, you will have dinner at the famous Kaorouji BBQ Restaurant. After dinner, have a stroll on Wangfujing Street. Includes: (B), (L), (D).
Day 14: Beijing - Taiyuan - Pingyao. Visit Beijing Zoo to see Pandas. You will be escorted to Beijing railway station. Take the high speed train to Taiyuan. Upon arrival, you will be greeted and transferred to Pingyao ancient city, one of the best preserved cities from Ming and Qing dynasties, where you can see and learn about the real authentic traditional Chinese architecture and cultures. Day 15: Pingyao - Xian. Explore Pingyao Old Town – Ming&Qing Street, City Wall, Rishengchang Draft Bank, and Pingyao Ancient Government Office. Then visit Shuanglin Temple to see 2000 Buddhist color sculptures. After full day tour, you will be escorted to Taiyuan airport and fly to Xian. Upon arrival, you will be greeted and transferred to your hotel. Includes: (B), (L), (D).
Day 16: Xian. Today, you will visit Terra Cotta Warriors, Huaqing Hot Spring, and in the afternoon, visit the ancient City Wall perfectly preserved from Tang Dynasty of 8th century. If you know how to ride a bike, you are invited to ride a bike on the wall with your guide. This may become a highlight of your tour. Then drive to Andingmen Gate (a photo stop) which is the starting point of the Silk Road, and then visit Big Goose Pagoda. In the evening, you will treated with Dumpling Banquet and Tang Dynasty Cultural Show. Includes: (B), (L), (D).
Day 17: Xian - Chongqing - Yangtze Cruise. By mid-morning, you will be transferred to airport and fly to Chongqing. Upon arrival, you will be greeted and provided with an introductory tour of Chongqing before being transferred to the pier for embarkation on Yangtze cruise ship. Sailing starts in the evening.
Day 18: Yangtze Cruise. Arrive at Fengdu and enjoy a short excursion. See the new resettlement town on the Yangtze’s south bank, a farmer’s home and a local market. Sail continues.
Day 19: Yangtze Cruise. Sail through the first of the fabled Three Gorges: Qutang Gorge. And at Wushan, take an excursion up the Daning River to see the splendid Small Gorges. Or you may visit Shennong Stream with its beautiful small gorges. Sail through Wu Gorge with its Twelve Peaks. Next is Xiling Gorge, the most scenic of all the gorges. Sail through the huge Three Gorge Dam ship locks.
Day 20: Yangtze Cruise - Yichang - Shanghai. In the morning, stop at San Dou Ping for a shore excursion to see construction at the massive Three Gorges Dam, the world’s largest hydroelectric project. Arrive in Yichang. You will be greeted and transferred to Yichang airport for a flight to Shanghai, the China’s largest and most cosmopolitan commercial and business center. You will be greeted and transferred to your hotel. Includes: (B), (D).
Day 21: Shanghai. Visit the Bund and enjoy Huangpu River cruise along the Shanghai’s skyscrapers and historic land marks, walk Bund Sightseeing Tunnel under the Huangpu River. Visit Jinmao Tower Observation Deck and Shintiandi (New World), super modern shopping, entertainment and restaurant district where you can explore and enjoy a fine Western dining. Dinner is on your own. (B, L)
Day 22: Shanghai. Breakfast at the hotel. Full day is yours to explore the city. Don’t the excellent shopping bargains in the Nanjing Street shopping district and other famous shopping areas. You will also enjoy visiting Shintiandi (New World) where you can enjoy fine Western cuisines from all over the world, and upscale shopping.
Day 23: Shanghai - Zhouzhuang - Suzhou - Shanghai. Drive to Zhouzhuang, an ancient town built in the water with numerous waterways. The town is well-preserved. Upon arrival in Suxhou, visit Humble Administrator’s Garden and have a cruise on Grand Canal, and Suzhou’s #1 Silk Factory. Drive back to Shanghai. Includes: (B), (L), (D).
Day 24: Shanghai - Home. Breakfast at hotel. You will be transferred to airport for departure. Includes: (B).
