Tour Itinerary:

Day 1: Huay Xai. Arrival Arrive in Huay Xai from Chiang Khong. City sightseeing. Excursion by car to the tribal villages of Laten and the local sapphire mines. Overnight at Huay Xai.

Day 2: Huay Xai - Pakbeng. Boat trip on the Mekong River downstream to Pakbeng. Visit the minority villages along the river. Overnight at Pakbeng Lodge. Includes: (B, D).

Day 3: Pakbeng - Luan Prabang. Continue the boat trip to Luang Prabang. Visit the sacred Buddhist caves of Pak Ou and Ban Xang Hai. Overnight in Luang Prabang. Includes: (B, D).

Day 4: Luang Prabang. Visit the former Royal Palace (now The National Museum) and the former Royal temples including Phu Si, Wat Saen, Wat Xieng Thong, Wat Vixoun, and the handicraft village Ban Phanom. Afternoon excursion by car to the Kuang Si Waterfall. Visit the hill tribe villages of the surrounding areas on foot. Overnight in Luang Prabang. Includes: (B, D).

Day 5: Luang Prabang - Phonsavan. Morning flight to Phonsavan. Visit the Plain of Jars and the war ruins at Muang Khun. Overnight in Phonsavan.

Day 6: Luang Prabang - Vientiane. Morning flight to Vientiane. Afternoon, City Tour: The National Museum, Wat Si Saket, Haw Pha Kaew, That Luang, Patouxai. Overnight in Vientiane. Includes: (B, D).

Day 7: Vientiane. Morning visit to Lao National History Museum, the Buddha Park and the Central Market. Afternoon free. Includes: (B, D).

Day 8: Vientiane - Pakse. Morning flight to Pakse. Excursion to the pre-Angkor ruins of Wat Phu near Champasak. Continue by car to Paksong on the Bolaven Plateau, famous for its coffee plantations. Overnight in Pakse. Includes: (B, D).

Day 9: Pakse departure. Visit Ban Saphai silk weaving village, then drive to Chong Mek on the Thai border where you cross to Ubon Ratchathani for train or flight to Bangkok. Includes: (B).
