Tour Itinerary:

Day 1: Christchurch and Port Hills. After meeting you at your Christchurch accommodation and setting you up with your bikes in the morning, we then head for a days riding on Christchurch’s Port Hills with spectacular coastal scenery and challenging climbs

Day 2: Christchurch to Maruia Springs (65 km/40 mi cycling - 200 km/125 mi total). We head across the Canterbury Plains to the start of the Lewis Pass, beginning a steady climb over the Southern Alps to our accommodation nestled in native forest and surrounding mountains. Sore muscles can be rewarded with a soak in the natural geothermal hot springs set in a dramatic forest backdrop (pool admission included in package).

Day 3: Maruia Springs to Nelson (100 km/63 mi cycling - 250 km/155 mi total).
We head north-west through native beech forest with a challenging ride provided by several gradual climbs (and rewarding downhill runs!). The day ends in Nelson, a friendly city with a vibrant art scene.

Day 4: Rest day. Nelson. A welcome rest and a chance to take in the sights of this pleasant artisan city, or alternately, arrange to walk or take a sea kayak tour through some of the Abel Tasman National Park (activity not in tour price).

Day 5: Nelson to St Arnaud (95 km/60 mi). A gradual ascent through quiet backroads to St. Arnaud and Lake Rotoiti. There's a chance to relax at the end of the ride at this beautiful alpine lake surrounded by stunning native forest and national park.

Day 6: St Arnaud to Blenheim (100 km/63 miles). A more relaxed ride as we head west to the vineyards of Marlborough, and Blenheim, the sauvignon blanc capital of New Zealand.

Day 7: Blenheim Vineyards Tour & Marlborough Sounds(65 km/40 mi). A challenging ride through the beautiful Marlborough Sounds before a relaxed afternoon sampling the great wine & food of Marlborough.

Day 8: Complete tour in Blenheim/Picton. Alternately you can transfer back to Christchurch on Tranzscenic train or north to Wellington on the Interislander ferry (additional charges apply).
