Guyana - Birds and Wildlife:

Guyana, a small South American country nestled on the Atlantic Coast east of Venezuela, hosts some of the last relatively unexplored wildernesses on Earth. The variety of pristine habitats, from lowland rainforests and the cool savannas of Surama Mountain to the waterways of the famed Rupununi and Kaieteur, one of the world’s highest waterfalls, ensures that this magical destination has something to offer every birder.

Locations we visit include Iwokrama, Atta and Surama Lodges and the Karanambu Ranch. Here we search for Guianan Cock-of-the-rock, Scarlet Ibis, Guianan Red Cotinga, Capuchinbird and Harpy Eagle, among many birding highlights that can be anticipated. Mammals form a major emphasis of this tour and we can expect species ranging from the amazing Giant Anteater to Giant River Otter and a good chance for Jaguar.

Day 2: Georgetown and surrounds.

Day 3: Georgetown to Iwokrama River Lodge.

Day 4 & 5: Iwokrama River Lodge and surrounds.

Day 6: Iwokrama River Lodge to Atta Rainforest Lodge.

Day 7: Atta Rainforest Lodge.

Day 8: Atta Rainforest Lodge to Surama Lodge.

Day 9: Surama and surrounds.

Day 10: Surama Lodge to Karanambu Ranch.

Day 11: Karanambu Lodge & surrounds.

Day 12: Karanambu Lodge to Georgetown, or to Lethem for the extension.

Guyana - Kaieteur Falls Extension:

This short pre-tour extension allows us to experience the magnificent Kaieteur Waterfall. This remote site affords spectacular views of the fall’s 748 feet (228m) drop as it cascades over a 328 feet (100m) wide lip – an almost indescribably impressive feat of Nature.

Tour Itinerary:

Day 1: Arrival in Georgetown, Guyana.

Day 2: Kaieteur Falls and return to Georgetown.

Guyana - Sun Parakeet Extension:

A post tour extension to Lethem will allow us to see one of the world's most wanted and endangered species, the spectacular Sun Parakeet - and much more besides!

Tour Itinerary:

Day 1: Arrival in Lethem.

Day 2: Southern Ireng River.

Day 3: Lethem to Karasabi.

Day 4: Karasabi to Lethem.

Day 5: Lethem to Georgetown.

Day 6: Final departure.
