Day 1: Arrival at Malta International Airport and transferred to accommodation. The week`s climbing programme is reviewed, any individual climbing equipment needed is noted and any specific requirements are taken account of.
Day 2: Pick up after breakfast from accommodation and taken to Ghar Lapsi-a climbing crag near the sea with over 100 rock routes. Morning session lasts 4 hours. A snack lunch will break the day at one of the local joints. A swim is also possible. The afternoon session (4 hours) will be at a different climbing crag, namely Ix-Xaqqa (64 climbing routes). This is a fascinating coastal gulley which offers exciting slab climbing. The British Royal Marines used to train here in the 50`s and 60`s and it is reputed that they actually drove motorcycles up these steep slabs! Return to accommodation.
Day 3: Free day to do whatever one pleases. One can swim from a good choice of rocky or sandy beaches in clear blue waters, visit cultural/historical places of interest ranging from neolithic times through the Knights of St John up to WW2, shop from Malta`s numerous malls or simply enjoy typical Maltese hospitality.
Day 4: Pick up after breakfast from accommodation and taken to Wied Babu-a gorgeous valley, Malta`s prime sport climbing crag with over 110 rock routes to choose from. Following the 4 hour morning session, a visit to Wied-Iz-Zurrieq, a picturesque fishing village. Here, a snack lunch, swim, sea traverse and a short boat trip will take one to the beautiful Blue Grotto. After lunch taken to Hamrija Tower Sea Slabs. Very close by is the oldest still standing man made structure in the world - Hagar Qim Neolithic Temples. A visit to these prehistoric temples is a must! The afternoon session (4 hours) will be capped by a sun setting over the sea at the fabulous Hamrija Tower Sea Slabs (52 climbing routes). Return to accommodation.
Day 5: Free day to do whatever one pleases. One can swim from a good choice of rocky or sandy beaches in clear blue waters, visit cultural/historical places of interest ranging from neolithic times through the Knights of St John up to WW2, shop from Malta`s numerous malls or simply enjoy typical Maltese hospitality.
Day 6: Pick up after breakfast and taken to Il-Karraba (35 climbing routes), a volcanoe shaped like rock headland between Ghajn Tuffieha Bay and Gnejna Bay. After about 4 hours climbing stop for snack lunch. Afternoon taken to Argentier (25 climbing routes), a climbing crag which is dotted with caves, in which in days of old a farming community thrived. Back to accommodation.
Day 7: Pick up after breakfast and taken by ferry boat to Gozo, Malta`s sister island. It is also called the island of Calypso. Xewkija Valley - a climbing crag with over 122 rock routes which is set in a fantastic meandering gorge-like valley, is the venue for the morning (4 hours). Snack lunch, swim and relax at the fabulous Mgarr Ix-Xini Bay.
Afternoon is spent doing the best and most enjoyable low level sea traverse in the Maltese islands. (4 hours). Dinner in Gozo, accompanied by goat`s cheese and home made wine to savour the adventurous memories of a week`s fantastic rock climbing in the Maltese islands. Return to Malta and accommodation.
Day 8: Pick up from accommodation at requested time and taken to Malta International Airport. Arrivederci Malta.
