Bike rental is included, but you may also bring your own if you would prefer. Off-road type bike is not needed for this tour.

Tour Itinerary:

Day 1 - Beppu city to Ajimu town, 50 km/ hilly. Past Miyoban geyser village.

Over 1200 foot elevation pass at African Safari, descent into Ajimu town. Possible side-trip to sample Japanese wine or water-fall in the forest. We stay at either an Ajimu farmhouse or a traditional Ryokan.

Day 2 - Ajimu town to Ukinokuchi, Kokonoe. Three considerable hills and 80 km. Morning ride is to Kusu town, and eat, rest, and ride again. Skirting the rice-fields on a back-route, then climb to Tsuribashi, suspension bridge at Handa Kogen.
We stay in a tradition Ryokan with outside hot-springs. A special dinner is there.

Day 3 - Ukinokuchi to Taketta town. Two moderate hills, 90 tough km. Accross the slopes of Kuju Mountain, lunch at Naoira spa town, dinner and bed in Taketa town.

Day 4 - Taketta to Nagayu village, one considerable hill and 40 km. Morning is spent with a guide walking the ruins of Taketa's ancient Oka castle ground. Then climb a steep but mercifully short (15 km) hill to Nagayu. Hot springs, food, etc.

It is an easy day.

Day 5 - Nagayu spa village to Beppu. A grand finale, two considerable hills and 80 km.
Our Ryokan and dinner await us. If you have any power left, you can enjoy some of Beppu’s night life or shopping.

Airfare is not included in the tour price.

Includes all meals (five days). Included is all lodging except first night in Beppu town(4 nights). Includes in-country transfers, tips, taxes, entry fees, bike rental and luggage transports. Does not include drinks, snacks or gifts.
