Tour Itinerary:
Day 1, May 5, Saturday: Upon arrival at Zvartnots International Airport you are greeted by your Tour Guide and immediately begin your unique journey with the Great Trains of Armenia; Transfer to the hotel; Check-in; Rest Time. Day 2, May 6, Sunday: Breakfast served. Yerevan City Tour - Republic Square, History Museum of Armenia,Tsitsernakaberd memorial and museum to the 1915 Genocide, Sports and Concert Complex, Kievian Bridge, Bagramyan Avenue, Presidential Palace, Academy of Sciences, National Parliament, Opera Theater,Cascade and Gerard Cafesjian Art Museum, which is Armenian’s largest repository of modern art with the Sculpture at the base of the Cascade. Lunch in Yerevan – Armenian Traditional Restuarant. Spring Holiday in Armenia. Day 3, May 7, Monday: Breakfast served Ashtarak – where you can find numerous churches and various ancient buildings at ever step; Artashavan – New Complex of Armenian Letters: “It is difficult to express the deep feeling Armenians have for their language, which many regard as the lifeblood of their culture”; Oshakan – the most famous as the last resting place of Mesrop Mashtots; Lunchand hospitality in the Armenian Traditional Familywithintraditional table/lavash making: “Eat thy bread with joy” Saghmosavank Monastery perch on the edge of the precipitous gorge of the Kasakh river. Day 4, May 8, Tuesday: Breakfast served. Visit to Lake Sevan – the emerald of Armenia - Sevan Monastery on the peninsula - Dilijan – a piece of Switzerland in Armenia – Earth and sky, woods and fields, rivers, the mountains are excellent schoolmasters, and teach some of us more than we can ever learn otherwise… The old approach in the new century, “Old Town Dilijan” complete with craftsmen workshops, small shops with traditional Armenian products and crafts, museum, showing typical 19th century living with all its local customs and handmade wood furnishings. Goshavank Monastery (10-13th century). Lunch in Sevan. Day 5, May 9, Wednesday: Breakfast served. Free Day Holiday - Victory Day. In Armenia May 9 is a double celebration. In parallel with the victory over Germany (1941-1945). In Armenia we celebrate the Day of Liberation of Shushi which is the second famous town in Nagorono Karabagh. Day 6, May 10, Thursday: Breakfast served. Driving through the fertile plains of the Ararat valley, you will reach Khor Virab Monastery – the beginning of the History of Christianity in Armenia, magnificently set against the towering slopes of Biblical Mount Ararat. This setting offers some of the most spectacular photo opportunities in all of Armenia. The monastery is the site where St. Gregory the Illuminator was incarcerated and is a pilgrimage destination for every Armenian, as well as for foreign believers. Noravank monastery – unrepeatable view of the nature. Lunch will be served in Noravank Monastery. Day 7, May 11, Friday: Breakfast served. This morning we will proceed to Garni, the rare pre-Christian pagan temple maintained in Armenia and Garni canyon, with a view magnificent sheer vertical cliffs, which appear to be a gigantic basalt organ carved in the rocks. The next stop is the Geghard (Cave monastery) architectural complex, rising out from the mountain, carved from one monolithic rock in the 12th-13th centuries. Sing an ancient hymn while inside; the acoustics in this chamber are extraordinary. Lunch. “Megerian Rugs” Factory & Show room: Which brings together time-honored traditions and a rang of exquisite aesthetics to create objects of art for modern living and you will become acquainted with the ancient technology of Armenian carpet making. Day 8, May 12, Saturday: Breakfast served. “Victory” Park with panoramic view of Yerevan and Mt. Ararat, Mesrop Mashtots avenue. You will enjoy tour of the most enigmatic of cities, visiting the remarkable Matenadaran Library and Research Institute of Armenia with close to 17,000 rare manuscripts, one of the richest depositories of manuscripts and books in the world. Lunch in Yerevan. Vernissage – outdoor market featuring hand made arts and crafts. Day 9, May 13, Sunday: Breakfast Today we embark on our Journey to the lands of ancient treasures of Christian history. Mother See of Holy Etchmiadzin. It's the "religious capital" of the country and the seat of the Supreme Patriarch-Catholics of all Armenians. It has 4 main churches, including the Cathedral. Built in 303AD, the cathedral is a masterpiece of Armenian classical architecture and considered to be one of the world’s earliest Christian churches. Admire Hripsime and Gayane Churches (7th c) named after faithful virgins. Lunch in Etchmiadzin. Day 10, May 14, Monday: Breakfast served. Visit to Lori region; Vanadzor City – the historical and modern center of the province of Lori; Alaverdy town in a canyon; Kobayr – the spatial construction of architectural currents is simple solemn; Wonderful monasteries Haghpat and Sanahin in which artistic merits transcended the limits of the national culture; Lunch in Alaverdy. Day 11, May 15, Tuesday: Breakfast served. Free day in Yerevan. EveningG: Say goodbye to Armenia at the farewell dinner in a classic Armenian Restuarant with live Armenian music and Folk Dances, capping off your journey with unforgettable memories.
