A 10-day blitz-safari that takes you right into the last true wilderness area in Africa, the Kaokoveld - comprising Damaraland and Kaokoland - home to the elusive desert Elephants. This wilderness safari is guaranteed to run, should a minimum booking for 2 guests (sharing) be received. Although fully accommodated for most of the safari duration, the highlight of this safari is two-nights’ camping on a Desert Elephant Discovery excursion. The safari will start in Windhoek, and end there again 10 days later.

This safari will bring you very close to Nature, due to the nature of the region and landscapes you will encounter on this journey, and thus experience the true magic of Africa. Venues are carefully chosen to include as much wildlife viewing as possible on such a short journey, but at the same time taking you into the rugged and harsh wilderness area of Damaraland, the last true wilderness in Africa! Here you will find no fences or enclosures, no settlements or towns, but an ideal opportunity to view our famous – and elusive - desert-adapted. This is also the ONLY area on earth where the Black Rhino still roams free!

After leaving Windhoek, our Capital City, work your way up along the central region of this wilderness for a first night in the shadow of the highest mountain peak in Namibia - the Brandberg. Although sightings of free-roaming animals can never be guaranteed by anybody, the nature of the landscape allows for open viewing ground. A special treat will be one night at a Cheetah Conservation Farm. Arrangements will be made for you to be invited to the homestead where you will have the opportunity for some interaction, and very close-up photography, of a few semi-tame Cheetahs. Four nights – of which two will be a guided and serviced camping experience - in the rugged Damaraland, allows for a very adventurous desert Elephant tracking experience, with challenging off-road routes and through dry riverbeds.

Tour Itinerary:

Day 1: Meet your host at Namibia's International airport and transfer to a small, private Game Camp on the outskirts of Windhoek where you may have your first encounter with our wildlife. Relax in your comfortable safari tent and acclimatize to Namibia. Includes: (D).

Day 2: Hit the road this morning, traveling north-west, and aiming directly at your first venue in Damaraland. Tonight you will sleep in the shadow of the highest mountain peak in Namibia - the Brandberg. (The dry Ugab River is another favored "highway" of the desert Elephants). The entire area is open to free nature walks, or may join either the owner's guided nature drive, or a sundowners drive to celebrate and end your first day in Damaraland. Includes: (B, L & D).

Day 3: Continuing north into Damaraland today, you will arrive at the second largest lodge under uninterrupted thatch, in Namibia. Should you so wish, you may end your day on a rewarding nature drive, offered at this establishment. Includes: (B, L & D).

Day 4: Today you reach the very northern perimeter of Damaraland and the very southern- of Kaokoland. Your lodging tonight is again in comfortable safari tents. Relax, enjoy your new environment, and we suggest an early night, to prepare you for your Desert Elephant tracking adventure tomorrow. Includes: (B, L & D).

Days 5 to 7: After a leisurely morning, head northwest in a challenging drive to camp in the Hoanib River near Amspoort, – and sleep out in the wilderness, under the southern skies. Day six, after breakfast, explore the beauty of Damaraland while tracking desert-adapted Elephant - and other local wildlife. Spend time observing these unique animals, then drive to the traditional village of Purros and camp overnight. On Day 7, you drive off road through river beds, tracking Elephant to Sesfontein and on to your lodge for a well-deserved rest in the lodge’s safari tent. Includes: (B, L & D).

Day 8: Before entirely leaving the northern areas of the Kaokoveld behind, today is the stop-over at the promised Cheetah Conservation Farm - and bush bar! An ideal opportunity for very close-up photography, and some inter-action with a few semi-tame Cheetahs. Includes: (B, L & D).

Day 9: The day had arrived to leave Kaokoveld, albeit reluctantly, and return to Windhoek. At least we won't "remove" you from the wilderness, and simply "dump" you into civilization. Your venue tonight is a Game Ranch en-route to the airport. Should you feel up to it, the owners offer a scenic nature drive, where you may have a final view of our sunset on this, your last night in Namibia, Africa. Includes: (B, L & D).

Day 10: No more can be fitted into 10 days and, subject to flight departure time, you may have the morning to relax, sort out your luggage, or finish the last few exposures on a spool of film, or space on a memory card. Transfer to Namibia's International airport to arrive in time for your departure flight. Includes: (B, Lunch will be subject to flight schedule).

NB: Days 1 and 10 will always be subject to flight schedule, and may have to be customized to same.
