Arriving at Manchester airport you will travel into Wales for a visit to spectacular Powis Castle before heading for your accommodation for the next 2 nights which is situated just outside Cardiff. Whilst there you will experience life as a miner in the Big Pit Museum, drive through the beautiful Wye Valley and visit Tintern Abbey, one of the greatest monastic ruins in Wales.
You will also enjoy the Museum of Welsh Life, one of Europe’s most outstanding open air museums and a visit to Laugharne, home to Wales’ great poet and writer Dylan Thomas, before arriving at your accommodation in west Wales, your home for the next 2 nights.
Here you will be able to explore St. Davids, Britain’s smallest city and birthplace of Wales’ Patron Saint. Don’t miss the opportunity of seeing St. Davids Cathedral one of the most important shrines in medieval Christendom.
We then head over St. George’s Channel to Ireland, staying for 2 nights in Co. Waterford home to the oldest city in Ireland. A visit to the replica of the Dunbrody Famine Ship will give you an idea of life on board for the thousands of Irish families fleeing the famine and heading to America. There’s a chance for you to kiss the Blarney Stone in one of the country’s prettiest village before we head for Co. Kerry for the next 2 nights. The Kerry National Park is both mystical and spectacularly beautiful as you will discover during your stay.
The Cliffs of Moher top the list of attractions of places to see and you will see why as we move northwards through the Burren (a landscape that is unique in Ireland) to your 2 night stay in Connemara. It is here that you will get to visit Kylemore Abbey the oldest of the Irish Benedictine Abbeys together with a stop in Cong deep in the heart of Joyce’s country and the setting of the film “The Quiet Man”.
After all that it’s a 2 night stop in Dublin where you will have plenty of free time to fall in love with Ireland’s vibrant capital city. Finally in Ireland it’s a trip to Glendalough, one of Ireland’s most beautiful spots
It’s then time to head back across the Irish Sea for a 2 night stay in Snowdonia an area of breathtaking beauty and home to the biggest and boldest mountains in England and Wales.
During your stay you will visit the village with the longest place name in the United Kingdom, Llanfairpwllgwyngyllgogerychwyrndrobwllllantisiliogogogoch, get the chance to walk over the majestic Pontcysyllte Aqueduct before stopping off at Llangollen home to the International Festival of Music every year. Also included is a trip to Beddgelert to hear the heart-rending story of Gelert, faithful hound of Prince Llewellyn and a journey over the Llanberis Pass a rugged slate strewn mountain pass by the side of Mount Snowdon Wale’s largest mountain.
