Your journey begins in Tallinn/Estonia. Briefing with our representative takes place before 6:00 p.m. after your arrival in hotel. During the briefing you shall receive detailed maps and detailed, constantly actualized description of each part of the route. You will receive your bicycle from our representative. Your trip is considered a half-guided tour. This means, that during the whole trip our employee with a small bus and bike trailer is present.
After each breakfast, he shall transport your belongings to the next hotel and will take care of all the technical details. The whole time, he is available by phone (you will receive his cell phone number) and stays close to you (he spends the night in the same hotel). If a breakdown occurs, it is his duty to take care of everything. If you should have any problems – contact him. During the trip you ride indeed by yourself, but never alone – the service man is always there for you. For this duty, we only choose those employees, who have sufficient knowledge of the area and speak English, or German. Tour Itinerary: Day 1: Estonia: the unique, medieval Tallinn. Individual arrival to Tallinn. Your guide is scheduled to greet you in your hotel in Tallinn in the late afternoon. Right after, you shall participate in a guided tour of the evening Tallinn. Accommodation in a middle class hotel, situated in the Old Town. Day 2: Estonia: National Park Lahemaa. The morning is free to your disposal (feel free to explore Tallinn). After a bus transfer you shall begin your first bicycle trip through National Park Lahemaa. The Park, one of the last unspoilt regions of the Baltic coast, extends upon over 700 square kilometers. It’s nature is rich and unique. Here you shall observe thick woods, marshes, lakes and waterfalls. Here is the realm of mooses, wild boars and over 220 bird species. Accommodation in a hotel situated in the National Park Lahemaa. By bike – about 52 km, by bus – about 60 km. Day 3: Estonia: Lake Peipsi – along the Russian border. In the morning we shall ride to Mustvee by bus. There you start a pleasant bicycle trip to Koosa. You shall ride on a beautiful bicycle route by the Peipsi Lake shore. It is one of the biggest lakes in Europe, divided in two by the Russian border. On the road, you pass many fishing villages. You reach your hotel by bus. Dinner and accommodation in Tartu. By bike – about 60 km, by bus – about 150 km. Day 4: Estonia – Latvia: National Park Gauja. In the morning, a guided tour of Tartu awaits you. Worth seeing objects include the famous Old Twon with the classical buildings of the University and the Gothic Johann’s Church – built from brick, containing many historical terracotta figures. After a short bus transfer, you ride (partially slightly elevated, height differences up to 280 meters) through the so-called „Estonian Switzerland“ and admire the environment. Finally, you are transferred by bus to Cesis (Latvia). The former Hansa-city, proudly looking back at it’s 800 years of history, lies in the center of the famous National Park Gauja. Dinner and accommodation in Cesis. By bike about 45 km, by bus about 140 km. Day 5: Latvia: Cesis castle and the "Paris of the East" - Riga. After breakfast, we take a professionally guided tour of Cesis. Worth seeing are especially the ruins of the castle of the German Order, where the municipal museum is situated nowadays. Before afternoon – bus transfer to Riga, the capital of Latvia. There, a guided tour of the Old Town awaits. Withover 800 renovated Art Nouveau building, elegant boulevards, and small, curvy alleys, the Latvian capital offers a charming, romantic atmosphere. Accommodation in Riga in a middle class hotel. Bike-free day, by bus about 85 km. Day 6: Latvia: cycling along the Baltic coast. Right after breakfast we ride by bus towards the Baltic. You ride mostly on a bicycle route, leading through Jurmala – a renowned Latvian sea resort. We advise you to take the opportunity to bathe in the sea – it’s worth your time. Your destination is hotel in Liepaja, you shall reach it in the late afternoon. Accommodation in Liepaja. By bike about 55 km, by bus about 190 km. Day 7: Latvia – Lithuania: Klaipeda. After breakfast we leave Latvia by bus and ride directly to Lithuania. We begin our bicycle trip in Sventoji on a beautiful bicycle route to Klaipeda, which lies along the Baltic Coast. On the road we pass Palanga, the renowned Lithuanian sea resort. Here you can make a pause and take a walk in the pedestrian area – optionally, it is possible to visit the renowned amber museum of Count Tyszkiewicz. After arriving to Klaipeda you are taken for a guided tour of the Old Town. Accommodation in Klaipeda. By bike about 45 km, by bus about 65 km. Day 8: Lithuania: Curonian Spit and the Witch Hill. After breakfast you cross the lagoon by ferry and reach the 68-kilometers long Curonian Spit. Because of the high dunes (up to 60 meters), the locals call it "the Lithuanian Sahara". On the road, in Juodokrante you can make a pause and admire the bizarre carvings of Lithuanian legends on the Witch Hill. Then, you ride along the Baltic coast to Nida, the former artistic resort. Accommodation in Nida. By bike – about 69 km. Day 9: Leisure time by the Baltic. This day is free to your disposal. You can ride to the highest dune of the Spit and from there admire the view of the Curonian Lagoon. Worth seeing is also the summer house of Thomas Mann – German Nobel Prize laureate, nowadays a museum. Accommodation in as on day eight. By bike – about 6 km. Day 10: Lithuania: crossing the Curonian Lagoon by ship. After breakfast you travel by ship (about 2 hours) to the continent. The Curonian Lagoon in this point is over 20 km wide, which makes difficult seeing the opposite shore with a naked eye. You reach the continent by the Minija river and ride by bike to the bird observatory in Vente. Further, after touring the observatory, you ride through Klaipeda region towards Zemaitkiemis. You reach your hotel in Kaunas – the former capital of Lithuania – in the late afternoon by bus. By bus about 205 km, by bike about 38 km. Day 11: Lithuania: Trakai – castle upon water and the ancient Vilnius. After breakfast you are transferred by bus to Lithianian lake district. By bike (slightly elevated landscape) you reach Trakai – the famous Gothic castle, erected on an island on the Galve lake. After a guided tour, we still have 30 km by bus to Vilnius, the capital of Lithuania. The Old Town stuns the spectator with the beauty and variety of Baroque and Classical buildings. This evening, a guided tour of the city awaits you. Accommodation in Vilnius in a good hotel in the city centre. By bike about 35 km, by bus about 100 km. Day 12: Lithuania: end of the tour and individual departure. Individual departure after breakfast. It is possible to extend your stay in Lithuania. Notes: - Condition of the roads: Slightly elevated at time, asphalt roads, on two occasions gravel road (altogether, 6 km) - Since the route descriptions include the distance in kilometers, we advise you to bring your own tachometer – in this case, our employee shall install it without additional cost. This will make your bicycle trip smooth and accurate. It is also possible to rent a tachometer from us, which costs 10 EUR per bike.
