This is the closest savannah reserve to Kampala. It is centred on a series of swamp fringed lakes known for their rich bird life. Its Acacia woodland harbours populations of zebra, warthog, buffalo, impala and the eland- the largest of African antelope.
Day 1: Depart for Lake Mburo with a stop over at the equator to experience having a foot in both hemispheres at the same time. Proceed to Lake Mburo National Park arrive in the afternoon at the lodge. Depart for short game drive to enjoy an Africa sunset. Dinner and overnight. Accommodation at Mihingo Lodge or Mantana Tented Camp (F/B).
Day 2: Early morning game drive to explore the reserve Return to the camp for a late breakfast. In the afternoon a boat trip excursion is arranged on Lake Mburo to see hippos, crocodiles and various species of birds that may include the secretive African Finfoot. Dinner and overnight. Accommodation at Mihingo Lodge or Mantana Tented Camp (F/B).
Day 3: Meet with your ranger guide for a 2 hour walking safari before returning to the lodge for a late breakfast. Leave for Kampala with a brief stop at Mpambire Royal drum makers for souvenir shopping. Continue on your return journey and arrive in Kampala late in the afternoon.
