An Explorer's Delight
We offer a number of programs for people who want to enjoy Iceland by rental car. Our “Organized Self-Drive” vacation includes airport transfers, a rental car and accommodation with breakfast. You are met at Keflavik Airport and taken to Reykjavik for the first night’s stay. You are given a road map and a detailed itinerary with information about sites along the route.
Your Itinerary:
Day 1: Reykjavik
Flybus (Airport Bus) transfer from Keflavík Airport to accommodation in Reykjavík. Overnight at Hotel Loftleider or similar.
Day 2: Reykjavik-Dyrholaey
South-coast highlights such as the Seljalandsfoss and Skógafoss waterfalls, Mýrdalsjökull glacier and Dyrhólaey.
Optional:
- Snowmobile tour on Mýrdalsjökull
- Kajak tour from Stokkseyri
Overnight at Hotel Hordabrekka or similar in Vik. (B)
Day 3: Dyrholaey-Pjorsardalur
Explore Þjórsárdalur valley and then continue to Gullfoss waterfall and Geysir hot-spring area. Overnight at Ivelandair Hotel Fludir or similar in Fludir.
Optional:
- River rafting in the Geysir area. (B)
Day 4: Pjorsardalur-Reykjavik
Þingvellir National Park and sightseeing in Borgarfjörður area, then via Hvalfjörður fjord or Kaldidalur highland track (4WD needed), back to Reykjavík. Overnight at Hotel Loftleidur or similar.
