The northern parks of Tanzania are among the most famous in the world. Home to the most dense concentration of wildlife of its kind in the world, destinations such as Ngorongoro and the Serengeti have unparalleled reputations for game viewing.

Tour Itinerary:

Day 1: Nairobi/Arusha/Lake Manyara National Park. Depart from Nairobi by shuttle bus at 0800hrs to arrive at 12.30hrs OR arrive from Kilimanjaro airport and transfer to Arusha. Depart after lunch approximately 1400hrs for Lake Manyara, whereby you arrive for an afternoon game drive.

The main attractions here are the tree-climbing lions. The park is small in size but the terrain is diverse. The vegetation comprises of groundwater forest, open grassland, swamp and acacia woodland with giant mahogany and fig trees. The park is home to a wide variety of mammals and birds. Dinner and overnight at a campsite.

Day 2: Lake Manyara - Ngorongoro Crater. After morning game drive , after breakfast 0900hrs in Lake Manyara, proceed to the 'eighth wonder of the world', the Ngorongoro Crater. Dinner and overnight at campsite, located on the rim of the Crater.

Day 3: Ngorongoro Crater. After early breakfast a 4wheel drive vehicle will take you 2000ft down the crater, tracking animals. Descend down its walls for a 1/2 day crater tour with a picnic lunch. It is a thrilling experience to descend down and out of the narrow and steep crater walls of 670 metres depth, which has earned this crater, also the largest in the world the title ‘’the eight wonder in the world’’.

Flamingos can be seen seasonally in the Crater Lake, depending on the water level as these birds only breed in shallow water. Many animals, which have made this crater their permanent home, can be seen on the crater floor. Picnic lunch at the crater before ascending back to the campsite for dinner and overnight.

Day 4: Ngorongoro Crater - Tarangire National Park. After breakfast drive to Tarangire. Afternoon game drive. The park has an atmosphere of remoteness and has fewer visitors than all the other parks in Tanzania’s entire northern circuit. Blue monkeys, hornbills, pelicans, herons can be seen as well as elephants in large herds, cheetah, jackal, fish eagle, marabou stork and hippos. Meals and overnight at campsite.

Day 5: Tarangire - Arusha. After early morning breakfast proceed for a morning game viewing drive, return to Arusha to arrive for lunch.
