Kea is the second biggest island of the Cyclades, and only one hour by boat from the port of Lavrio. For the walkers Kea is equal to paradise. Paths of a total length of 36 kilometres, 65% of which are paved, await and long to reveal the secret charms of Kea. Most lead to isolated coasts. The paths that we are going to tour were part of the road network that connected the cities-states between them. Along all the paths, wooden signs can be found that state the destination.

Tour Itinerary:

Day 1: Kea island (36mi/58km 3hrs ride). We meet at Vouliagmeni a southern suburb of Athens at 9 in the morning and fit the bikes. We cycle along the coastline to Lavrio port stopping at Sounio for a visit at ancient Temple of Poseidon built at 444BC. We board the ferry boat for an hour taking us to the island of Kea. We settle at the unique Red Tractor Farm and then dine out at a local tavern.

Day 2: Kea (2hrs hike/1hr ride). We hike to Ioulida the capital city of Kea for a visit to the archeological museum and stroll along the narrow paths. In the afternoon we cycle to Otzias beach for a swim.

Day 3: Kea (2 hrs ride/0,30min hike). Today we ride to Karthea to visit the recently founded Apollo and Athena Temples. Swimming at the nearby sandy beaches is optional. We ride our way back to our hotel circling the island.

Day 4 Kea, free day. You can ride or hike on your own today. Even better Costis and his fishing boat Sultana can take you for a swim at secluded beach only reached by foot.

Day 5: Athens, end of the tour. We take the boat to Lavrio and ride back to Vouliagmeni near Athens. In case you have a flight to catch a taxi can drive you to Athens International Airport in just 20 minutes.
