It is Uganda’s second largest National Park, covering 1,978 sq km, located on the savannah plains below the Rwenzori Mountains, home to over a hundred mammal species among which include; the famous tree climbing Lions, the Uganda Kob and a number of Antelope species, Hyenas , Crocodiles, Elephants, Baboons, Hippos, Buffaloes, Chimpanzees, extra. 606 species of birds have been recorded hence a perfect consumption for birders. Animals are regularly sighted around the tourist village of the Mweya Peninsula - which also boasts a marvelous waterfront setting in the shadow of the Rwenzori Mountains.
Tour Itinerary: Day 1: Kampala - Queen Elizabeth National Park. After breakfast, your safari to Uganda’s second largest National Park will start. You will stop at the Equator for photos and the Equator experience and at the local drum industry. The drive takes you through savannah grasslands with banana plantations and herds of Ankole cattle, known for their incredible long curving horns. In the evening, you will take a look at the traditional salt mining at Katwe. Overnight at Mweya Safari Lodge | Simba Safari Camp (Full Board) Day 2: Wildlife Safari - Queen Elizabeth NP. Early in the morning, wake up for a game drive where you will catch the early risers and predators returning to their hideouts. Have breakfast, and relax during the heat of the day as you wait for lunch. A boat cruise on the Kazinga Channel which will bring you to a close range with the highest concentration of Hippos and many other animals drinking by the water edges. For bird lover and photographers, this is heaven. On return, you will rest and if willing, you have a walk around the Mweya peninsula for Warthogs, Banded Mongoose, Waterbucks and more. Overnight at Mweya Safari Lodge | Simba Safari Camp (Full Board) Day 3: QENP - Kampala. Early in the morning, go for another game drive for animals possibly missed the previous day. Return to the Lodge for breakfast within an hours time then return to Kampala with lunch Packed. End of Queen Elizabeth National Park safari.
