Mykonos, Paros, Naxos, Santorini
The Cyclades are group of islands situated in the southern part of the Aegean Sea. The archipelago contains 2,200 islands, islets and rocks, only 33 islands are inhabited. The Cyclades are best known for the islands of Mykonos, Paros and Santorini. The Cyclades share the same architecture of small whitewashes cubic houses with flat roofs, wooden colored doors and windows with floured balconies.
The multitudes of narrow streets are particularly charming and magic. The Cycladic architecture is explained by the fact that the houses had flat roofs and a cubic shape to resist against the strong winds. They were painted in white to cool the high temperatures of summer time. The houses were built very close to one another for protection against the pirates. It also shows the strong communal spirit of the era.
Mykonos. Famous for the excellent beaches and vibrant night life. Little Venice and the Windmills are one the most photographed places in the world.
Paros. A very touristic and a typical example of Cycladic island with picturesque villages and beautiful beaches.
Naxos. The largest of the Cyclades islands Naxos has green valleys, a lively harbor town and probably the best beaches in Greece.
Santorini. No other island in the world offers such contrasting colors and impressive scenery.
Nothing can prepare you for the uniqueness of this island.
