Day 1: Arrive Amman, Jordan. Today land at Amman International Airport under your own arrangements. On arrival you will be met by a Corinthian Travel representative, assisted with the immigration formalities, then transferred to your chosen hotel. Accommodation: Stay for 2 nights at the Grand Hyatt Hotel (Guest Room) / Four Seasons Hotel (Deluxe Room).
Day 2: Jerash and Gladiators. This morning drive to Jerash, one of the best preserved Roman cities in the Middle East. The tour will start at the Hippodome with a series of re-enactments including Gladiator combat, Roman Army drill, and a Chariot Race. This is the only place in the world where Roman style Gladiator combat and Chariot racing are performed in an original setting. Next, tour the ruins with a private guide and have a Lebanese lunch. This afternoon return to Amman. The rest of the day will be at leisure.
Day 3: Royal Automobile Collection, Madaba, Little Petra, Arrive Petra. After breakfast visit the impressive automobile collection of the late King Hussein, then drive the bustling market town of Madaba you will have a short walking tour. The town is noted for its Ottoman houses and detailed Byzantine mosaics, including a historically significant 6th century mosaic map. After lunch drive to Petra and visit Little Petra (Al Beidha) with its mini Siq, then check-in at your hotel. This evening experience the unforgettable spectacle of Petra by Candlenight (operates Mon, Wed, Thu only) when the Siq and forecourt of the Treasury are bathed in the soft flickering light of thousands of candles. Accommodation: Stay for 2 nights at the Movenpick Petra (Standard Room)/Movenpick Petra (Junior Suite).
Day 4: Petra. Start the day with a privately guided tour of ancient Petra lasting between 2 to 3 hours. The site is approached via the Siq, a dramatic narrow gorge of striking beauty hemmed in by cliffs up to 80 metres in height. After 1.5 kilometres the stunning edifice of the Treasury (El Khazneh) emerges dramatically through a narrow gap. Further on the intricately carved Royal Tombs, Street of the Facades, High Place of Sacrifice, Qasr al Bint and the enormous Monastery (El Deir) all wait to be discovered. A buffet lunch will be provided within the site. The afternoon is free to continuing exploring Petra independently. Day 5: Petra, Arrive Desert of Wadi Rum. This morning there will be a second opportunity to visit Petra. In the afternoon drive south to explore the stunning desert valley of Wadi Rum by 4WD vehicle. This vast timeless and starkly beautiful place where uniquely shaped mountains rise out of the rose-red desert was used by T. E. Lawrence as his headquarters during the Arab Revolt of 1917 – 18, and was the location for many shots in David Lean’s epic film ’Lawrence of Arabia’. This evening enjoy a typical bedouin meal and overnight under canvas in a small scenically located tented camp. The desert sky at night can be amazing! Accommodation: Stay for 1 night at the Wadi Rum Tented Camp (Standard Tent)/Wadi Rum Tented Camp (Standard Tent).
Day 6: Kerak Castle, Arrive Dead Sea. At sunrise there is an oportunity for a hot-air balloon ride to see the magnificent spectacle of dawn over the desert (supplement applies, subject to weather conditions). After breakfast visit the huge Crusader and Mamluk castle of Kerak with its awe-inspiring ring of walls, then drive to the Dead Sea. On arrival the remainder of the day will be at leisure. Accommodation: Stay for 2 nights at the Movenpick Resort & Spa (Deluxe Room)/Kempinski Ishtar Spa & Resort (Ishtar Superior Room).
Day 7: Dead Sea at leisure. Today will be at leisure at the Dead Sea and enjoying the many facilities available at your hotel. Here you may experience the unique sensation of floating cork like in its waters, indulge in spa treatments, relax by one of several swimming pools, and benefit from the region’s special dry climate with its weakened ultraviolet radiation and high oxygen content.
Day 8: Farewell to Jordan. Transfer to Amman International Airport and check-in for your onward flight.
