Mt. Elgon Hiking Adventure Tour (5 Days, 4 Nights)
Tour Itinerary: Day 1: To Mbale. Pick up from your overnight accommodation in Kampala or Jinja and transfer to Mbale. Final purchase of fresh fruits and vegetables, before check in at Mt. Elgon Hotel or similar for dinner and overnight. Meal Plan – Lunch and Dinner. Accomodation: Mt. Elgon Hotel Meals: Lunch and Dinner Transit Time: 5-6Hrs Day 2: Drive to Budadili at the gate of Mt. Elgon National Park. Start walking to Sasa River Camp for dinner and overnight (Sasa trail is the fastest way to the main peak, however the first day is particularly tough with a rugged climb of over 5, 249 feet). The distance is about 5 miles. Accomodation: Sasa Camp Meals: B,L,D Transit Time: 7-8 Hrs Day 3: From Sasa to Mude Camp. After breakfast at the camping site, proceed through the forest to Mude Cave Campsite for dinner and overnight. Distance of the day about 2 miles, and a 4 to 5 hour walk. Accomodation: Mude Camp Meals: B,L,D Transit Time: 4-5Hrs Day 4: Mude Camp to Wagagai. From Mude Camp to Wagagay Peak (14,176 ft). After breakfast walk through the moorland zone up to the main peak, Wagagai, and return to the Mude campsite for dinner and overnight. Distance of the day: 11.1 miles. Accomodation: Mude Camp Meals: B,L,D Transit Time: 8-9Hrs Day 5: To Budadili and Mbale. Morning back Budadili where your waiting vehicle will return you back to Kampala. Meals: Breakfast and Lunch.
