Day 1: Zagreb. Transfer from the airport to hotel. Check - in. Introduction to the program. Dinner.
Day 2: Breakfast. A sightseeing tour of Zagreb. The cosmopolitan main square of the Croatian capital is ornamented with a big statue of one of the most famous Croatian governors, Josip Jelačić, who is proudly overlooking the heart of the city.
Experience Zagreb’s past and present by strolling through the Donji (Lower) and Gornji (Upper) Town, visiting the Archaeological Museum, Zagreb Cathedral and Dolac market. We will light a candle at Kamenita vrata (Stone Gate) - a place where miraculous things happen, we will walk the streets of the Upper City to get to St. Mark's Square, and catch the breathtaking views of Zagreb from the Lotrščak tower.
Using one of Zagreb's most popular attractions, the funicular, we'll get from the Upper Town to one of the longest and most popular streets of Zagreb, Ilica. If you have the opportunity to visit Zagreb during October, pay attention to the special event of 120 years since the funicular was first opened to traffic or simply enjoy this unusual ride from the historic to urban Zagreb.
Lunch at a restaurant. Return to the hotel. After an afternoon nap, we continue our sightseeing by visiting Mirogoj - one of the most beautiful cemeteries in Europe, which is the park and open-air art gallery. In the evening one should pay visit to one of the best pastry shops in town or discover the charm of warm and colorful autumn evenings in one of the numerous parks in Zagreb... Zrinjevac, Bundek.
Day 3: Breakfast. Check out from the hotel. Zagreb - the day of culture. We will visit the prestigious building of the Croatian National Theatre, a place where some of the most famous world and domestic pieces took their premieres. The building is now protected as a cultural heritage. Visit the Mimara Museum which hides the most valuable exhibits of Croatian art, and the ancient Egyptian statues, as well as works by Rubens, Rembrandt, Goya and others.
This cultural day will round up our visit to Zagreb and we'll head towards the northern Croatia. Going north will take us to the castle Trakošćan, Croatia's most romantic castle surrounded by forest park and lake, whose extraordinary visage and breathtaking panoramic views had always impressed its visitors. A tour of the castle and the museum will be followed by a lunch in the restaurant at the foot of the castle.
The drive to Varaždin accompanied by panoramic sightseeing of Lepoglava and Ivanec will round the story of Croatian Zagorje, a region once inhabited by numerous noblemen. Varaždin. Check in at the hotel. Dinner.
Day 4: After the breakfast, follows the city tour of Varaždin (Cemetery, Old Town, the Museum of insects, a baroque old core). Varaždin, according to Lonely Planet one of the best destinations in Croatia, has completely justified the epithet of the shiniest Baroque jewel of this part of Europe. The city hides a number of palaces of noblemen decorated in styles of Rococo, Art Nouveau and Baroque.
Alongside with the secular architecture of the palace Patačić, Erdödy, Old City Hall, the city is full of religious architecture, which earned him the title „City of bell towers and angels“. Certainly the most impressive part of the old city of Varaždin is as if stopped in time. The magnificent Renaissance building is now a museum with display the life in Varaždin from the times when the ladies in crinolines and velvet walked its streets.
Lunch at the restaurant, followed by the visit to the Wine road with vincilir - a person who is in charge of the vineyards. Return to the hotel. Feel free to take the time to visit the city's bathing resort, relax in the Jacuzzi or try your luck in the slot club or casino. Dinner.
Day 5: Breakfast. Visit to Čakovec. A sightseeing tour of the city of Zrinski Family. We will take a walk through the Zrinski Park and tour the museum of Međimurje located in a former palace of Zrinski.
Passing by the city square we will come to the Church of St. Nicholas, one of the few religious buildings once ornamented with secular ornamentation - Coat of arms of Family Zrinski. Nowadays its exterior is ornamented with the statues of the saints.
Take advantage of your free time and explore the city on your own, grab a coffee, buy some souvenirs, etc. After a short break, the bus will take us to Gornje/Uppper Medjimurje - a region where the best varieties of grapes are born and turned into superb varieties of wines by hardworking hands.
In a glimpse of an eye, we will arrive to the northernmost city of Međimurje, Mursko Središće. Mursko Središće is a monument to the mining heritage of Medjimurje. A tourist complex Cimper and a Mining memorial will reveal how things once looked at the place where, until 1970, coal mines and coal separators were operating.
A tour of the brewery, distillery and drying fruit which are all part of the Cimper complex. After you’ve became familiar with the mining tradition in Međimurje, what follows is a true „Miner's lunch in the restaurant of Cimper complex. Afterwards we will visit the floating river mill on the Mura River.
In the old times, such mills were main supplier of corn flour, one of the main ingredients of the traditional dishes for hardworking people. Visit to one of the most famous wine houses in Međimurje. You will get a chance to enjoy the wine tasting in the wine cellar and traditionally decorated tasting room. The best and unique wine varieties of Međimurje County will surely enchant all of your senses. Return to the hotel for dinner.
Day 6: After the breakfast, we will head to the area of the River Drava, for the gold drainage demonstration. The first written documents state that the tradition of gold drainage on the Drava and Mura Rivers dates back to the 16th century.
In the youngest city in Međimurje , Prelog, we will visit the Baroque church of St. Jacob. St. Jacob's church, the most valuable cultural monument in Prelog, is the only baroque church in northern Croatia. It was built by the Styrian Masters. The main altar consists of three smaller altars dedicated to St. Jacob, St. Joseph and St. John. Lunch at the restaurant.
The birthplace of Dr. Rudolf Steiner is only few kilometers away. Rudolf Steiner was the originator of anthrop physics, Waldorf schools and biodynamic agriculture. His birth house is now open to visitors and one should grab the opportunity to hear a story from his childhood and become acquainted with his ideas and the importance they have for his home region and the world.
The ramparts of Donji Kraljevec hide a true modern wonder - Speedway Stadium Millenium. The stadium has an FIM license, and is considered to be the finest speedway stadium in Europe, which possesses and offers all the elements needed for a high-quality and high-ranking race (FIM and UEM Championships). Return to the hotel. Enjoy your free evening to visit the city, etc. Dinner.
Day 7: Breakfast. A trip to the small village of Badličan, a village that abounds in pure energy provided by the city of labyrinths. City of labyrinths consist of nine mazes each with a different name and meaning. You can draw energy from the labyrinth of power, feelings, connections, power, wisdom, love, freedom, etc.
Once you charge the batteries with completely clean and new energy, we will use our joint forces to prepare the lunch for ourselves in the Restaurant Međimurski dvori, under the watchful eye of chef. Return to the hotel. Dinner.
