Before the tour starts, I normally have a short chat with all my guests to get to know their preferences, interests and wishes upon which I tailor my tour to ensure maximum guest satisfaction. The Old Town of Dubrovnik holds endless stories all the way from its beginnings in 7ct AD to present day. As we walk along its narrow streets, noisy squares or by its sunny fountains you will hear a story about each sight, sometimes a sad story but mostly happy and funny stories about Dubrovnik people and how they knew to enjoy life throughout centuries.
At some point we will continue of the beaten path to show you some secrets of this medieval city that are not accessible to regular guests, which I guarantee will make you feel like a true Dubrovnik's medieval dweller! We begin our tour with picking you up from your hotel or sea port, with our airconditined vehicle and dropping you off at Pile Gate - western entrance to the Old City. This is starting point from our tour where I, as your tour guide give you complete introduction of the city and its 1300 year old history. We enter the city from Pile gate, stop at franciscan monastery with Europe's oldest and still working pharmacy (1317.) and continue passing great Onofrio's fountain, old Orphanage, and ancient Dubrovnik's football playground (15 ct.) to the main Street Stradun. You will hear the story about the great 17 ct. earthquake which almost leveled the city to the ground, we will pass the Jewish quarter and arrive at Luza Square where there are important buildings in all directions such as St. Blaise church (St Blaise is the saint patron of Dubrovnik so you will hear story about him as well), Sponza Palace (customs house and mint), Orlando's collumn (Dubrovnik's symbol of freedom), and Rector's Palace (city's center of political power). We will stroll together through the green market and climb famous baroque Jesuit staircase where we can see Dubrovnik's Cathedral from up above. Later we will descend and enter Dubrovnik's Cathedral where some of the most valuable paintings and artifacts are stored, and we will finish our tour at the tip of Dubrovnik's Old Port where you will hear the dark story about cursed island of lokrum, lying just opposite the Old City! This is your tour and I will tailor it to your preferences. If you want to sit down and have a coffee during the tour, I will find us a perfect spot and continue on a Dubrovnik's history while sipping the coffee and so on. We are not in a hurry since 3 hours is just some normal tour duration but I will stay gladly longer n case you have additional interests or questions, with no additional charge, of course! Member discount: Notes: This tour normally goes at fixed rate of 160 USD. If the group is smaller than 5, additional discount is available!
