Although Phu Quoc is less developed than most of the resort areas in Viet Nam, it boasts some of its best beaches. Some are accessible on foot, but most require a bicycle or motorcycle ride. Both are cheap and easy to hire, but the island's roads are mostly poor. Much of the island is covered by forest, part of which is protected as a Forest Reserve. To the south are several small islands that can be visited by boat. There are plenty of opportunities for fishing and snorkelling, and a diving centre has recently opened. Travel by air from Ho Chi Minh City.
