We recommend this tour as an introductory tour of Scandinavia. In 11 days you will experience the 3 capitals, the impressive Fjord area of Norway as well as all the fantastic scenery and surprising impressions Southern Scandinavia can offer. It is also possible to add extensions to Helsinki and Russia.
Day 1: Copenhagen
Individual arrival to your hotel. In the early evening your tour manager will organize a get-together to go through the main points of the tour. Overnight.
Day 2: Copenhagen
Buffet breakfast. In the morning there is a city tour, during which you will see The Little Mermaid guarding the port, Nyhavn with all its restaurants and small boats, the City Hall Square and other main features of Copenhagen. The afternoon is free for individual visits, perhaps to the Tivoli Amusement park or an optional tour to Roskilde. Overnight.
Day 3: Copenhagen-Oslo
Buffet breakfast. Early departure by coach to Helsingør in North Sealand, famous for the Kronborg Castle where Hamlet was set. Here you catch a ferry over to Helsingborg in Sweden and then continue along the Swedish West Coast, the Swedish Riviera with many beaches and summer resorts. You will pass through Gothenburg, the second largest city of Sweden. The tour continues along the now more barren coast with cliffs and a popular area for pleasure boats and sailing ships. Towards the evening you will arrive in Oslo, situated by the Oslo Fjord. Overnight.
Day 4: Oslo-Bergen
Buffet breakfast. Today you enter the area of the forests and rivers of Norway, following the Hallingdal Valley, known for its folkloric tradition and on to Geilo, a winter resort, refreshing also in the summer. You cross the Mountain plateau of Hardanger, the home to thousands of reindeers, and on the descent towards the Fjord you pass the famous Waterfall of Vöringsfossen. You cross the Hardanger Fjord by ferry and continue along its shores to Bergen, the Gateway of the Fjords. This is Norway's second largest city and it is beautifully situated surrounded by 7 mountains. Overnight.
Day 5: Bergen
Buffet breakfast. In the morning you will be introduced to this remarkable City of the old Hansa. You will enjoy the view of the Bryggen area of old wooden houses that is part of the UNESCO World Heritage, as well as the traditional Fish Market. Afternoon and evening free. Overnight.
Day 6: Bergen-Sognefjord-Briksdal-Hornindal
Buffet breakfast. Today you travel north crossing the Sognefjord and on to the Briksdal Glacier. You can walk to the glacier`s edge or stay below just admiring the view. You continue along numerous fjords offerering spectacular views. Late afternoon arrival at your hotel in Hornindal. Dinner and overnight.
Day 7: Hornindal-Geiranger- Lillehammer
Buffet breakfast. Today you continue exploring the beautiful fjord area. First a marvellous one hour ferry trip through the Geiranger Fjord, passing the Seven Sisters Waterfall and arriving at the charming village of Geiranger. You will have a little time to explore the village and then continue to Lom, where you see the Stave Church from the Middle Ages. Enter Gudbrandsdal Valley and arrive in Lillehammer in the afternoon. This small town hosted the Olympic Games in 1994. Overnight.
Day 8: Lillehammer-Oslo
Buffet breakfast. Very early departure travelling along the biggest lake in Norway, Lake Mjøsa and down to Oslo. Here you will have a city tour including a walk around the Frogner Park decorated with sculptures by Gustaf Vigeland. You also pass the City Hall and the main street, Karl Johan, leading to the Royal Palace. Afternoon and evening at leisure for own activities. Overnight.
Day 9: Oslo-Stockholm
Buffet breakfast. Early morning departure leaving Norway and entering Sweden. You pass forests and lakes, but also some very fertile areas of Sweden when you approach Stockholm. Lunch en route. Arrival Stockholm late afternoon. Overnight.
Day 10: Stockholm
Buffet breakfast. In the morning a city tour shows you some of the beauty of this city built on 14 islands with bridges and viewpoints giving an enchanting feeling of space and light. You will walk around the charming Old Town with its narrow cobblestone streets, passing The Royal Palace as well as the Great Church, where the present King and Queen were married in 1976. The afternoon is free for other optional excursions or visits to the City Hall, the Wasa Museum or a tour to Uppsala and Sigtuna. Overnight.
Day 11: Stockholm
Buffet breakfast. Today is the day to say farewell to the tour, the travel companions and to the Magic of Scandinavia.
