Tour Itinerary:
Days 1-2: Depart the United States. Connect in Amsterdam with your flight to Kilimanjaro Airport, arriving late evening. You will be met by M20989 staff and transferred to your lodge. Overnight at: The Arusha Hotel. Day 3: Arusha - Tarangire National Park. Today you will depart Arusha, traveling southwest through the Maasai Steppe where you will see districts and settlements that are predominantly inhabited by Maasai. Arrive at Tanzania's fourth largest park, Tarangire National Park, for your first wildlife viewing drive. Afterwards, head to your lodge – Tarangire safari Lodge. Day 4: Lake Manyara National Park. Spend the morning in Lake Manyara National Park, viewing some diverse scenery and wildlife, including troupes of monkeys, elephants, giraffes, hippos and lions. Later today, enjoy the view from your lodge overlooking Lake Manyara. Dinner and overnight at Kirurumu tented Lodge. Wildlife viewing in Lake Manyara National Park. Overnight: Kirurumu tented lodge. Day 5: Ngorongoro Conservation Area. On your way to Ngorongoro Conservation Area, make a stop at a local historian's house where you will learn about Tanzanian culture. Then enjoy a farm-fresh lunch at beautiful Gibb's Farm on your way to your lodge on the rim of Ngorongoro Crater. Visit a local historian. Lunch at Gibb's Farm. Overnight: Ngorongoro Serena Lodge. Day 6: Ngorongoro Crater. The Ngorongoro Crater is home to about 30,000 animals despite its tiny size of only ten miles across. Many Maasai call the Ngorongoro Conservation Area home - keep an eye out for the red cloth of the herdsmen dotting the landscape as you make your way through this area. Return to your lodge later this afternoon to relax before the evening activities, which may include African dance, traditional music or acrobatic performances. Full day of wildlife viewing on the floor of Ngorongoro Crater. Overnight: Ngorongoro Serena Lodge. Day 7. Serengeti National Park. After breakfast, continue your journey into the heart of Tanzania by heading west, toward the Serengeti Plains. Begin wildlife viewing right away as you make your way to your camp, where our dedicated staff will make sure you enjoy your wilderness experience. Brief stop at Olduvai Gorge Picnic lunch in the park. Afternoon wildlife viewing in Serengeti National Park Overnight: M20989 special camp. Day 8: Serengeti National Park. Relish in the vastness of the Serengeti, "the land that flows on forever," along with some of the best wildlife viewing that Africa has to offer. In the evening, reflect on the day's events with your fellow travelers around the fire. Wildlife viewing in Serengeti National Park (if you have advance reservations, make an early departure for your hot-air balloon excursion today). Overnight: M20989 special camp. Day 9: Serengeti National Park. The Serengeti is home to literally hundreds of thousands of hoofed animals, the Serengeti is a pristine and unique sanctuary that will give you a glimpse into “the world as it was in the beginning.” Full day of wildlife viewing in Serengeti National Park. Overnight: M20989 camp. Day 10: Serengeti National Park. Spanning nearly 6,000 square miles, the wildlife viewing in the Serengeti has even more to offer you today. At your lodge this afternoon, the pool will be a wonderful place to relax during the final day of your adventure. Full day of wildlife viewing. Overnight: Serengeti Serena Lodge. Day 11: Serengeti - Arusha - Depart. Depart the Serengeti on a scenic flight late this morning arriving in Arusha in time for a farewell lunch, some shopping and a dayroom to prepare for your flight home this evening. Flight from the Serengeti to Arusha (33lbs baggage maximum). Farewell lunch in Arusha. Dayroom in Arusha. Transfer to the International Airport for your flight home.
