In the morning we will pick you up from your accommodation and then bring you to the Royal Palace which was built in 1866 and been the residence for many Cambodian Kings and Queens. Here we will take a tour where you can see the Silver Pagoda and other unique historic buildings and ‘wealth and glitter’. For this Palace an appropriate dress code is necessary. Woman should have their shoulders covered and skirts worn lower than their knees.
Wat Phnom is the next stop on the program and is the most famous temple of Phnom Penh. The capital city found its existence on this hill. In this tour the lunch is included. We will take you for lunch to the Hagar foundation, which is an organization that helps abused women and children who have devastating backgrounds as they suffered from abuse, violence and trafficking. Here they can recover and slowly reintegrate back into society.
We will take a ride out of town for about half an hour to visit the horrific Killing Fields. Here we can see the ‘darkest times of Cambodian history’, the time the Khmer Rouge ruled the country and killed over 2 million people. From the Killing Fields to S-21 Tuol Sleng museum it is again half an hour back to town. This genocide museum, a former school that was used as a prison and where many prisoners found death after being tortured, is our next stop. We finish the day at the Russian market where you will be able to buy a wide range of unique souvenirs. This market is famous for its amazing variety of shops. After an interesting day we will bring you back to your accommodation.
