Day 1, Sunday: Arrive Cape Town. Upon arrival at Cape Town International Airport, you will be met by our representative and transferred to your hotel. Enjoy and afternoon city tour including Table Mountain. Commence your tour by driving though the Company Gardens, the South African Museum, past the Historic Castle of Good Hope. Ascend the famous Table Mountain, now a World Heritage Site (weather permitting) accessed by cable car. Walk around the top of the mountain and enjoy the breath taking views from the summit. Take the cable car down and continue your tour through the vibrant and arty flea market, at Green Market Square. Return to your hotel. Rest of the evening is yours at leisure.

Day 2, Monday: Cape Town. Breakfast will be served at the hotel. Rest of the day is yours at leisure to explore the famous V&A Waterfront and adjusting to the laid-back rhythms of the ‘Mother City’. This evening dinner is yours at leisure for own account. Accommodation: Table Bay Hotel or similar on bed and breakfast basis.
Day 3, Tuesday: Cape Peninsula. Breakfast will be served at the hotel. A full day’s touring of the ruggedly beautiful Cape Peninsula via the Atlantic seaboard. We stop at the fishing village of Hout Bay, where you will take a cruise to Seal Island to watch the antics of these natural. Lunch will be served at a local restaurant. Then we carry on along the Indian Ocean coastline to Boulders Beach for close encounters with another of the Cape’s adorable creatures – penguins. We drive through the quaint naval village of Simon’s Town on our way back to our Cape Town hotel. This evening dinner is yours at leisure for own account. Accommodation: Table Bay Hotel or similar on bed and breakfast basis.
Day 4, Wednesday: Cape Town - Oudtshoorn. Early breakfast at the hotel before meeting with your guide and travel via the town of Montagu on the scenic ‘Route 62’to the pretty village of Barrydale where we stop for tea (own account). Then on to Oudtshoorn, known as the ‘feather capital of the world’ thanks to its huge ostrich industry. After a fascinating tour of an ostrich farm, we continue to our Oudtshoorn hotel for check in and overnight. Accommodation: Oudtshoorn Inn or similar on bed and breakfast basis.
Day 5, Thursday: Oudtshoorn - Knysna. This morning go underground to marvel at the icy formations in the Cango Caves, regarded, for good reason, as one of South Africa’s most spectacular natural wonders. We then drive via the spectacular Outeniqua Passto the town of George, then onto Knysna, perhaps South Africa’s most visually stunning resort, in the heart of the famous Garden Route. Spend the rest of the day discovering the joys of the town’s many art galleries, craft shops and coffee bars.

Day 6, Friday: Knysna. Cruise on the vast Knysna Lagoon, and then visit the Featherbed Nature Reserve. Enjoy an amazing view of the imposing sandstone ‘Heads’ which guard the sea entrance to Knysna’s huge tidal lagoon, and the forests, marshes and pristine beaches surrounding it. After lunch spend the rest of the day at leisure, enjoying this lovely and special town. Accommodation: Knysna Hollow Hotel or similar on bed and breakfast basis.
Day 7, Saturday: Port Elizabeth. This morning transfer to Port Elizabeth to arrive mid afternoon, after a drive through the glorious indigenous Tsitsikamma Forest. The tour ends at approximately 14h30, where you will be dropped off at a Port Elizabeth central.
On arrival at the reserve refreshing welcome drinks will be served whilst you are being assisted with check-in formalities. Accommodation: Protea Hotel Marine Hotel or similar on bed and breakfast basis.
Day 8, Sunday: Port Elizabeth - Johannesburg - Hoedspruit. After breakfast you will be transferred to Port Elizabeth Airport for your flight to Johannesburg. (flight cost not included). On arrival at OR Tambo International Airport (Johannesburg), you will make your own way to your connecting flight to Hoedspruit. Flight cost not included. On arrival at Eastgate Airport (Hoedspruit) you will be met by our representative for transfer to the lodge, where a refreshing welcome drinks will be served and escorted to your suites.
The majestic Northern Drakensberg Mountains provide a spectacular backdrop to the under-stated luxury found at our Lodge in the Thornybush Game Reserve, Limpopo Province, South Africa. More than 60 species of wildlife are found on this vast reserve including lion, leopard, buffalo, cheetah, rhino and elephant as well as several delightful and unusual species of fauna and flora. Adjacent to the Greater Kruger National Park lies 10 500 hectares of pristine African bushveld, which is the ‘Thornybush Game Reserve’? With an abundance of bird and mammal species including the Big 5. Explore the African bush on foot and from the back of an open safari vehicle. Discover the animal world, from the smallest termite to the tall and elegant giraffe, from the cute dwarf mongoose to the moody buffalo. Listen to the distant roar of the lion whilst relaxing around the campfire, or simply appreciate the silence, space and brilliant night skies.
Game drives or walking safaris, undertaken by highly trained rangers and trackers, offer the privilege of experiencing a true bushveld environment. Jackalberry is also a paradise for bird-watchers, where more than 280 species have been recorded. Later this evening return to the lodge in time a deserved al fresco dinner. Accommodation: Jackalberry Game Lodge or similar on full board basis.
Day 9, Tuesday: Jackalberry Game Reserve. The morning drive leaves after a light breakfast at first light, while the later drive usually departs around 15h00 to 15h30, depending on the season. Each drive lasts for three-and-a-half hours on average, but if a spectacular or unusual sighting is made, it could last longer. Morning drives include a halfway stop for hot chocolate, coffee or tea and home-baked rusks. Return to the lodge to a sumptuous breakfast at the lodge. Rest of the morning is at leisure to relax to participate in the many activities offered at the lodge. In the late afternoon join your ranger for an evening safari in the Reserve. The late afternoon drive includes a stop for drinks and snacks to take in an unforgettable African sunset. Accommodation: Jackalberry Game Lodge or similar on full board basis.
Day 10, Wednesday: Jackalberry Game Reserve. Rest of the days is yours at leisure to enjoy activities offered at the lodge. Accommodation: Jackalberry Game Lodge or similar on full board basis.
Day 11, Thursday: Jackalberry Game Reserve - Johannesburg - Flight home. This morning you may wish to go on your last safari for those memories to take back home with you before returning to the lodge for breakfast. Complete your check out formalities and meet with your driver for transfer to Eastgate Airport for your back to OR Tambo International Airport. On arrival at the airport our representative will assist you with your luggage and escort you through to the international departure terminal for your flight back home.
