On arrival at Kruger Mpumalanga International Airport, transfer to the world famous Kruger National Park Hamilton Tented Camp, where your safari begins. Named after Colonel Stephenson Hamilton, who was instrumental in establishing the world famous Kruger National Park, Hamilton’s Tented Camp reflects a safari adventure of the early 1900’S, where grace and style were the epitome luxurious living. Following the fine tradition of luxury in true “out of Africa” style, the journey into a bygone era inspires one to experience safari.

Hamiltons Tented Camp allows indulgence in pure luxury, combined with the sounds and smells of the African bush. Six magnificent canvas tents complete with teak floorboards, dreamy mosquito nets, slipper baths, outdoor showers and a superb view of the seasonal river are linked to the main lodge area by raised timber walkways amongst ancient Jackalberry trees. Uncompromising elegance and breathtaking beauty identifies Hamiltons Tented Camp. This afternoon board an open safari vehicle. Game sightings abound virtually from the moment you enter this extraordinary reserve. Enjoy your first night in this unique patch of African wilderness. Accommodation: Hamilton Tented Camp or similar on full board basis.

Day 5: Kruger National Park. Two daily safaris/game drives are conducted in open 4×4 safari viewing vehicles with experienced and informative Rangers. Hamiltons is situated within the Kruger National Park which boasts one of the most diverse game viewing experiences in South Africa and is home to an estimated 1,500 lion, 12,000 elephant, 2,500 buffalo, 1,000 leopards and 5,000 rhino (black and white). Lions are scattered throughout the Park, most commonly found in the grasslands, where the favourite prey of Zebra and Wildebeest are found. “The Hamiltons Pride” is frequent visitors to the Ngwenyeni Dam and the immediate area around the lodge. Leopards are shy animals that hunt at night. Hamiltons Tented Camp is fortunately in a high leopard density area and sightings are frequent. Spotting the tawny-yellow body with black rosette spots, as it blends in perfectly into its surrounds is a definite highlight of any nocturnal safari. Accommodation: Hamilton Tented Camp or similar on full board basis.

Please be ready in the lobby of the hotel, where you will meet with your guide for a half day tour to Soweto – one of the biggest black township In South Africa. You know the name. It’s a legend. SOWETO, acronym for South Western Township, is home to over 2 million people, who, despite living in crowded and chaotic conditions, have a tangible sense of community, one which ironically, the ordered, walled, elitist northern suburbs lack. Inside Soweto, we visit the Hector Pieterson Museum, and discover the cause of the tragic riots which led to his death; we pass Mandela House, and give you time to visit this fascinating little museu.

Our journey continues to Regina Mundi Church, site of many secret underground meetings of the then banned political parties. Finally we take you past the largest stadium in Africa, Soccer City, and host of the 2010 FIFA World Cup Final. This magnificent stadium is now nicknamed ‘The Calabash’ for its resemblance to the African Pot. Soweto is unlike a suburb you’ve ever seen or been to, yet the history of struggle encapsulated here is a cornerstone of the South African story. Later this afternoon you will be transferred OR Tambo International Airport for your flight back home.
