Day 1: Arrive Cape Town. Arrive in Cape Town and check in to the hotel. This is part of the Victoria & Alfred Waterfront, South Africa’s most popular tourist attraction, there are hundreds of shops and restaurants within easy walking distance of the hotel. Accommodation: At Protea Hotel President on bed and breakfast basis.
Day 2: Cape Point tour. A full day tour of Cape Peninsula will take you through some of the most spectacular sights of this region. Drive via the Atlantic seaboard, where the road hugs the coastline, and take a boat trip to Seal Island, before driving through the countryside to the Cape Point Nature Reserve. Take a ride on the funicular rail to the scenic viewing point and stop a Boulders Beach to see the African penguins. After lunch (own account) drive back to Cape Town via Kirstenbosch Botanical Gardens time permitting. Accommodation: At Protea Hotel President on bed and breakfast basis.
Day 3: Cape Winelands tour. A full day to explore the Cape Winelands. These fertile valleys, framed by some of South Africa’s most spectacular mountains, are scenically amongst the most beautiful in the country. Towns such as Paarl, Stellenbosch and Franschhoek settled in the very first days of Cape Colony are full of history and interest, and there is an opportunity to taste some of South Africa’s finest wines. Enjoy lunch at a local wine estate (own account) before returning back to Cape Town. Accommodation: At Protea Hotel President on bed and breakfast basis.
Day 4: Cape Town tour. A half-day city tour introduces you to the city centre, with its museums and stately buildings set against the glowering bulk of Table Mountain (weather permitting). This afternoon you are at leisure to relax or you have an option to take a boat trip to Robben Island for historical experience of South Africa. Accommodation: At Protea Hotel President on bed and breakfast basis.
Day 5: Cape Town - Kruger National Park. Fly to Hoedspruit Airport (flight cost not included), and transfer to your private game reserve. This afternoon join your Safari Guide for and afternoon game drive in the Kruger National Park. A safari in an open vehicle into Kruger National Park isn’t to be taken lightly. Day 6: Thornybush Private Game Reserve. Thornybush Private Game Lodge offers unique exclusive Safari experiences in both open Land Rovers, and on foot. The private reserve is home to an abundance of species: 147 mammals including the "Big Five", 114 reptiles, 507 birds, 49 fish, 34 amphibians and 336 trees. The reserve is predominantly open savannah and with a near perfect year round climate, it is the ideal African safari holiday destination.
The day starts as dawn breaks over the African bushveld. After your early morning wakeup call, coffee, tea & rusks are served on the main deck overlooking the riverbed. Shortly after, you depart in your open Land Rover with your experienced Rangers and Trackers who will share their extensive knowledge of the bush with you. These drives are undertaken at times best suited for game viewing which vary depending on the season but typically start early morning. Where applicable you may be invited out of the vehicle to see tracks, examine certain plants and follow spoor.
After an exhilarating hunt for tracks to see what the animals have been up to during the night, and tracking down whatever you find, you will stop somewhere out in the bush for a break of coffee & tea. Time to stretch your legs whilst having your sunglasses cleaned & indulge in cool towels in summer, and hot towels in winter. In winter, we keep our guests warm on the vehicle with hot water bottles & warm blankets. Accommodation: At Thornybush Waterside Lodge on full board basis.
Day 7: Kruger - Johannesburg. After breakfast please meet with your driver for transfer to Kruger Mpumalanga International Airport for your flight to Johannesburg (flight cost not included). On arrival at OR Tambo International Airport, you will be met by our representative who will transfer you to the hotel. Accommodation: At Holiday Inn Sandton or similar on bed and breakfast basis.
Day 8: Johannesburg - Victoria Falls. After breakfast please be ready for your transfer to (Johannesburg) OR Tambo International Airport for your flight to Victoria Falls. (flight cost not included). On arrival at Victoria Falls Airport you will be met by our representative and transferred to the Kingdom Hotel, with an afternoon tour of the Falls and the surrounding National Park. Accommodation: At The Kingdom Hotel on bed and breakfast basis.
Day 9: Victoria Falls. This morning there is an opportunity to ride through the bush on African Elephants, travelling with local mahouts and following a skilled ranger; you will ride high above the bush and often see game. This afternoon enjoy lunch at the hotel for own account. In the late afternoon visit the Zambezi Nature Sanctuary followed by a sunset cruise on the Zambezi River. This evening you will be transferred to The Boma for dinner. Accommodation: At The Kingdom Hotel on bed and breakfast basis.
Day 10: Victoria Falss - Johannesburg. After breakfast you will be transferred to Victoria Falls Airport for your flight to Johannesburg (flight cost not included). On arrival at OR Tambo International Airport and connect with your onward flight back home.
