Tour Itinerary
Pick you up from your hotel in Cairo by our representative, who will accompany you to Taba / Nuweibaa port to sail to Aqaba port in Jordan. In arrival at Aqaba port you will be picked up by our REP there to drive to Petra by bus for approximately 90 minutes. In arrival in Petra you will start the guided tour as follows: Walk through the Canyon or Siq: We start the tour on foot, though the Siq or the Canyon, a narrow, winding gorge that leads into the city of Petra, emerging dramatically in front of the Treasury along the way. Beautiful sandstone formations of Petra were once occupied by the Edomites. One of the reasons why Petra was such an attractive site for the Nabateans is its virtual hiddeness behind a narrow and easily defensible canyon known as the Siq. Tour of Al Khazneh or The great treasury of the Pharaoh: The most spectacular site in Petra – is the treasury. Giving the Treasury a run for its money as the most impressive monument at Petra is the Monastery, which is about an hour’s climb north of Petra’s city center. The Monastery is beautifully carved, though much less decorated than the Treasury, and so huge that even the doorway is several stories tall. Tour of The Roman theatre & the Royal tombs: After the visit of the treasury we will visit the Roman theatre which dates back to Byzantine era & the Royal tombs. Not a lot is known about the ancient culture of the Nabateans, except that they were excellent engineers. With amazing skill and craft they built water conservation and irrigation systems and carved their homes, temples and tombs right out of the rocks. Lunch. Have lunch at a high quality restaurant with international and Jordanian food. Visit of Al Habis fort: Afterward, we continue our tour to the hill of Al-Habis fort which dates back to Crusaders times, for a breathtaking panoramic view of deep gullies and uniquely colored rock formations. Back to Cairo. At the end of the day drive back to Aqaba port to sail back to Taba/Nuweiba Port with direct transfer to your hotel in Cairo. Notes: Prices (p/p):
