Indulge your inner spirit while practicing yoga in one of the world’s most scenic regions – the Dolomites – the crown jewel of the Alps. Sights, sounds, and flavors of the Dolomite Mountains in northern Italy will awaken your connection with your body and nature.
Egon Castlunger, your yoga instructor for the week, is a certified Hatha Yoga teacher(RYT-200), Zen Shiatsu practitioner, Heilpraktiker, and hiking guide. Born in the Dolomites village of La Villa, not far from the yoga retreat, he discovered his love for the mountains and nature at an early age. Training in Munich, Milan, and Switzerland, and practicing in Germany and Italy, today he resides Switzerland where he teaches his regular classes and workshops.
His Yoga teaching is a contemporary style, based on Hatha Yoga (Asanas, Pranayama, Meditation), Vinyasa flow elements and Yin Yoga, with the background knowledge of traditional Chinese medicine and Zen Shiatsu. He believes Yoga provides tools to harmonize our being at all levels of our existence: physical, mental, social and spiritual, and that the result is balance, strength, opening, inner peace, and finally a happy and fulfilled life.
In addition to morning and afternoon yoga sessions outside on the patio, daily excursions will include walks through charming mountain villages and hikes on trails to a few of the most spectacular vistas on Earth. You’ll also have the joy of eating fresh, local cuisine – healthy meals prepared just for our group!

Day 1: Arrive in Alta Badia, Dolomites. Arrive on your own to San Cassiano in Alta Badia (1,600 m / 5,250') in the heart of the Dolomites and check into your hotel. Meet with your yoga instructor and hiking guides for a trip briefing and warm up yoga session, followed by a welcome dinner – your first taste of the Dolomites’ incredible, fresh regional cuisine! Day 2: Yoga & Santa Croce Sanctuary and Armentara Meadows. We begin this morning with our first full yoga session. You’ll quickly learn how Egon Castlunger’s unique approach interweaves many disciplines drawn from yoga, zen shiatsu and meditation, and nature into a single integral practice. Option self guided: Hike to Santa Croce Sanctuary . Hike through these colorful meadows with fantastic views of the spires of Puez-Odle mountain range and Sass de Putia. Day 3: Yoga & Pralongia High Plateau. Daily morning and afternoon yoga sessions. Self guided hike to Pralongia and take the gondola which will bring you to San Cassiano in Alta Badia. B, … Relais & Châteaux Hotel, Alta Badia (5-Star).
Day 4: Yoga & Lagazuoi Tunnels. Daily morning and afternoon yoga sessions. Transfer to the Lagazuoi Cable Car and ride almost 3,000’ to the entrance to the Lagazuoi WWI Tunnels. From here, you will walk to the Galleria del Lagazuoi, a fascinating open-aire WWI museum carved into the mountains. Here the Italian and Austro–Hungarian armies dug shelters out of the mountains, transforming them into an impenetrable 20th century fortress of tunnels, trenches, and machine gun posts. Numerous routes take us on a behind-the-scenes tour of a dramatic, high-altitude battles that were unique in the history of man. Day 5: Yoga & Cinque Torri. Daily morning and afternoon yoga sessions. Today we’ll explore the area of Cinque Torri, a group 5 pinnacles that form the training grounds of hundreds of climbers and mountaineers. The setting of this iconic formation is remarkable as it looks out at the long wall of the Croda di Lago on one side, and Lagazuoi from the other. In the distance rise Sorapis and Anteleo. Simply put, the view is awesome. There are more WWI trenches and tunnels to explore here! Day 6: Yoga & Val di Fanes. Daily morning and afternoon yoga sessions. Hike in the Fanes-Sennes-Braies Natural Park along the Val di Fanes. Enjoy super panoramas of the Marmolada Glacier and surrounding peaks. As we hik through the lovely realms of this valley, we have the option to stop for lunch at a rifugio where ancient folk traditions thrive, and savor regional specialties including sausage with mushrooms and polenta, and grilled taleggio cheese.
