Tour Itinerary:
Day 1: (Sunday) Johannesburg. On arrival you will be met and transferred to your hotel by our representative. This afternoon you will be taken on a guided Soweto tour. Accommodation: Protea Hotel Wanderers or similar on bed and breakfast basis Day 2: (Monday) Pretoria and Mpumalanga. Depart by 07h30 and leave Johannesburg’s distinctive skyline and head for Pretoria, South Africa’s capital city, for a short orientation tour, before continuing to Mpumalanga, dropping several hundred feet into the lush subtropical region of the Lowveld. We travel via the historic towns of Witbank, Dullstroom and Lydenburg, to your accommodation for the evening which is situated on the famous Long Tom Pass. The afternoon is at leisure to take in the panoramic views across the escarpment or to participate in one of the many activities such as mountain biking, hiking or trout fishing (activity costs for own account) which are on offer at the hotel. Accommodation: Misty Mountain Hotel or similar on dinner, bed and breakfast basis Day 3: (Tuesday) Pilgrim’s Rest and the Kruger National Park. This morning we will explore the living history in the form of Pilgrim’s Rest, the old mining village where gold was first discovered. Afterwards we will gasp at the glory that is God’s Window, a boundless view of forested mountains and fertile plains, and visit the spectacular Blyde River Canyon, one of the natural wonders of Africa. Accommodation: Perry’s Bridge Hollow or similar on dinner, bed and breakfast basis. Guests have the option to purchase an afternoon Elephant interaction experience. You will have the opportunity to touch, feed and brush down these magnificent animals. Day 4: (Wednesday) A Full Day 'Big Five' Game Viewing in Kruger. Set off before breakfast in open safari vehicle in search of lion, elephant, buffalo, rhino and leopard, and all manner of wondrous wildlife, birds and plant species. Accommodation: Perry’s Bridge Hollow or similar on bed and breakfast basis. Day 5: (Thursday) The Kingdom of Swaziland. Drive to the tiny Kingdom of Swaziland, a former British Protection Territory, now ruled by King MsWati III. Witness a Swazi cultural experience before visiting the Swaziland National Museum. We continue through the capital city, Mbabane, known for its vibrant markets packed with woven baskets, beadwork and carvings. Accommodation: Lugogo Sun or similar on dinner, bed and breakfast basis. Day 6: (Friday) The Kingdom of the Zulu’s. Visit the Swazi Candle Factory, teeming with exquisite wax artworks in every shape and colour imaginable. Then on into Zululand, passing traditional round huts and endless vistas. Arrive mid-afternoon in the Umfolozi area. Accommodation: Protea Hotel Umfolozi on bed and breakfast basis. *Clients have the option to purchase an exciting afternoon open safari vehicle game drive into Hluhluwe-Imfolozi Park. Day 7: (Saturday) Durban. This morning enjoy a cruise on Lake St Lucia before departing for Durban. Hug the lush KwaZulu-Natal coastline en route to Durban, watching the sugar cane fields do their own version of the Mexican wave at the urging of the wind. Accommodation: Protea Hotel Edward on bed and breakfast basis. Day 7: (Sunday) Depart Durban. This morning you are at leisure to relax or explore the Durban beachfront before meeting with your driver for transfer to King Shaka International Airport for your flight back home.
