Day 1: Altiplano and Atacama Desert - Santiago Fly from Santiago to Calama. Upon arrival you will be transferred to San Pedro de Atacama. In the immensity of the Atacama Desert in the north of Chile, the driest, most desolate and arid in the world, the Andean Altiplano will surprise you with its dramatic, exotic, awe-inspiring beauty. San Pedro de Atacama, a small town surrounded by impressive natural scenery, was the cradle of ancestral cultures. Considered today to be the archaeological capital of Chile, San Pedro continues to be a silent witness of the passage of time. Overnight at a VIP hotel that designs tailor-made outings. Excursions are private, exclusive, and are programmed according to your preferences and pace. Your private guide will help you plan your trips and will accompany you during your stay. You can choose full- or half-day excursions. Day 2: Altiplano and Atacama Desert Wake-up and pick an excursion of your liking. Excursions can involve easy strolls or intense treks for the more adventurous, horse-back riding, bicycle rides, visits to archaeological sites, visits to the salt flats, Altiplano lagoons or villages hidden among the deep valleys. You can get up at dawn to go and see the geysers and relax in the thermal pools. Bird watching or an evening astronomic tour with local guides are some of the experiences you can organize during your stay. Day 3: Altiplano and Atacama Desert Another day to explore the wonders of the Atacama Desert. Eleven thousand years ago, Atacama was already inhabited by groups of hunter-gatherers of the San Pedro or Atacama cultures. The passage of the Tiahuanaco and Inca cultures and later on the arrival of the Spanish conquistadors had a major influence on the Atacama culture, which was forced to integrate in order not to disappear. The population is currently made up of descendants of the first inhabitants of the region, Atacameños and European colonists, with a strong Chilean and Quechua influence. Day 4: Altiplano and Atacama Desert Another day to explore the extraordinary landscapes of the Atacama Desert and its indigenous culture.
